I'm looking for some new boots. Which ones would you recommend?
Do the Fox Instinct fit true to size? My current TCX Pro 2.1 and all of my shoes are 9's so just want to make sure.

Also, are there any differences between 2017 Instinct and the 18's?

You're comparing apples with oranges right here. The tech 7 and fox 180 are both mid range boots, fox instinct are high end boots and I consider the tcx's to be inbetween the three of them

Instincts. Tech 7 is too soft and I think A Star boots don’t last. 180 are cheap mid level. TCX are nice but Iprefer the Instincts. Instincts are on sale for $320. I also think they are the most comfy boots. Sole is very durable as well.
I have 3 pairs of them.

Instincts all day. Extremely comfortable as said above. Great feel of your levers and no break in needed. I normally wear a size 10 but needed an 11 for these boots.

I've heard that for 2018 FOX made the souls more durable, but the 17's are on sale for like $330. I personally wear tech 7's and I love them.

So true.

Out of that selection, instincts. But if you are going to throw down top dollar on instincts, also compare sidi, gaerne, and alpinestar tech 10s

Instincts all day long. Hands down better than any boot I’ve ever had. Been in them the last 3 years after I tore my ankle up in a set of SG-12’s. I tried the 180 boot out at one of the demos thanks to our awesome area fox rep. Felt similar to my instincts in the fit and contact to the bike but just a little stiffer (may have been because they were new).

I've had two pair of the TCX Pros in a row and think very highly of them. They last a long time - great fit, break-in is immediate.

They need to market in the US a lot harder (they had a big importer here in the US for awhile in the early 2000s, but I think once that went away, they seem to not be pushed here nearly as much).

Is it just me or do the new Fox boots look similar to the Scott Genius’?

I’m guessing the Instincts were included because they are in the same price range as the other boots listed.

Not going to find SG12’s, Tech 10’s or SIDI for $330 to my knowledge.

Of those listed I’d get the Tech 7.

Well, instincts also don't have a MSRP of 330. But if you can get them for 330 it's definitely the best bang for buck out of the boots listed if you ask me. I've got 2 sets myself

Stay away from tech 7s. Mine have come apart in a matter of weeks. And I mean completely apart.

Lots of boots go on sale. I have bought new SG12 for $400, SG11 for $329, Crossfire’s for $350, etc. 2017 Instincts are on clearance for between $320 to $340 right now. I’ve owned every top end boot out there. They all have positives and negatives. They all fit feet differently as well.

Then you should be contacting the source and getting them warrantied.

Forma make a nice boot. I have had Dom Comp’s and Predators. You can usually get Predators new for between $300 and $350. The Dominator Comps were a little heavy and bulky. Similar to Gaerne. Italian company and made in Romania.

I love my tcx. The caveat is that I've never tried a set of instincts on though.

My tech 7s are still going strong after 100 hours of mx on sharp titanium pegs.

Another tech 7 fan. I’ve had 4 sets and they hold up great and like others said I can wear them all day. Pretty lightweight too.

I bought a used pair of Tcx pro 2.1 off an A class mx racer. They have signs of wear, but not bad at all. He used them for atleast two seasons. And from the looks of it, they will last many more years. Tcx is probably the only boot brand I will use from now on.

Agreed. I’m embarrassed to say how long I’ve had my current set (mostly from lack of riding the past few seasons which has now changed). Come to think of it maybe I’ve had three pairs. My first pair was their previous brand name Oxtar.

It’s time for new boots for me again more a matter of the age of my current set and not wear. I’ll try to find a deal on the TCX Pros but am also considering Tech 7s.

I had my mind made up I was going to get the Instincts. So yesterday I went to a local shop to try them on and they were so tight. I wear 10's, I put on an 11 and they were to loose. Tech 7's were right next to them and wow, so comfortable right out of the box. Going back today to get the Tech 7

What are you doing to them? I have 120+ hours on mine and that’s from hard pit/track time. My bottoms are worn out but they aren’t falling apart

How are you guys getting life out of the tech 7s. I had one set last only months. Before they started to look like a work out pair of work boots.

You work out in work boots?

My Tech 7s were instantly comfortable out of the box, break in time was virtually nil and have been holding up just fine. I'm coming off a pair of T10s that I got about 2.5 years of hard use out of and I actually prefer the fit and feel of the 7s.
