They said they wouldn't cover their camera that they had.

I'm know I'll get hated on for saying this. First off, I'm very sorry they lost all their equipment. I've had stuff stolen and been burned for many times that $24k, it was all used equipment so more like 12-15. Not once have I ever thought to beg from strangers, which is what a go fund me page does. This isn't just aimed at 404 Films but this whole culture lately. One of our members here lost everything he and his mother owned, there are situations where the generosity of strangers is needed. This was a business loss, happens every day, again I feel for them. Make sure it's insured next time, take on a partner, borrow from family. I would be more inclined to give to the guy on the street corner(which I won't do) that buy a business new equipment.

You can't leave your camera gear unattended in a car if it's visible. I also learned this the hard way.

Don't feel bad.

Fourohfour, I do sympathize with you more than you know. My home was robbed as a kid, and the safe that was stolen had upwards of 40k in cash alone.

Maybe it's just different points of view here, but no one is on life support and going to die if this money isn't raised, you guys will have a tough road but will be fine. If it means that much to you you will figure out a way to get your equipment back.

There are just too many "donate to me" pages, and because of the volume of which they pop-up, they have lost there validity in my mind...kinda like the boy who cried wolf.

It's under the picture and was started by the woman listed as director of Fourohfourfilms, I checked before I posted anything because many times these are started by well meaning friends.

Yea, when I was 18 I was a victim of smash 'n grab. Lost all my Canon gear. It's a crappy feeling for sure.

It taught me to keep a tight grip on my equipment. I won't even gate-check that bag when I fly.

Homeowners or renters insurance should cover the loss, minus the deductible, give the insurance agent the police report number. Make a claim.

man thats horrible.
but leaving 24K of equipment in a car in a parking garage, no matter how 'secure' it is, i could never do that. way to paranoid of getting it jacked.

I left 35 cents in a cup holder in BC. They smashed the window out to get it.

Bummer on the theft but this seems possibly avoidable.

X2, outa sight outa mind, some of my friends keep doors unlocked, change is cheaper than a window, have valuables hidden and insured.
