Great binge watch. Buying your engines from your competitor seemed weird.

A great qualifying session is like a holeshot, stay out of the mess.

It was great, reminded me a lot of "Inside The Outdoors".
The new Moto Spy youtube series that Wes is doing is also a very, very good way to go behind the scenes. Hoping they do more of those and longer episodes as it is a great way to showcase the personalities and humanize SX/MX

I've never been into F1. A side from seeing random clips of Kimi Raikkinon and thinking he has to be the coolest human ever.

I finished watching the series a couple days ago, and went straight to the gram and started following Riccardo, Max etc, and now plan on watching when I can..

It was a good series, especially for anyone not knowing anything about F1.. Curious how F1 experts feel about it though.

I'm convinced that Kimi doesn't move his face when talking in any language
He is known as the Iceman and another interesting fact is that when he drinks....he drinks hard and parties even harder. He does not like doing interviews.

1. What a debut from Lando Norris!
2. The midfield is incredibly close!
3. Räikkönen drove well.
4. I expected the Haas cars to be "the best of the rest" since they are always good in Australia. So they matched my expectations.
5. Mercedes has taken a step forward, it will be a rough season for everyone else.
6. Williams is a disgrace to their name and heritage at the moment. The fact that they have gone from being capable of podiums to being one of the worst cars on the field since a car like HRT close to 10 years ago is madness. Especially since we're still in the same era of cars and regulations compared to when they were good in 2014 and 2015.

The problem that Williams has comes down to an aerodynamic stall at the diffuser, this area has been a problem for Williams for a while. The stall worsened significantly in 2018 and it looks like they have not found a solution.

It looks like Mercedes is faster but we will have to see if it is faster over the distance between pit stops. It sure looks twitchy compaired to the Farrari, will this result in excessive tire wear during the race.

The thing I find amazing is, given the size and power of their (any/all teams) computers, how they can have such problems.

I was fortunate enough to visit the Caterham F1 factory and walked past the super computer they had - it was HUUUGE. With an electric bill to match!

I kinda wonder if Adrian Newey could look at their design and data and point right at it: "Here's your problem right here. Here's how to fix it."

It could have been close racing all year but I think Sebastian lost his confidence or something! He just kinda fell apart..

Me in Monaco in 1991 cruising through the pits in some SKIDZ pants. I had no idea what it meant to be there back then and had been walking ALL DAY. My dad took me as he was in a GM Engineer program and he wanted to see everything. I had to wait on the Monaco Casino front steps because I didnt make the dress code. lol

I have been a fan ever since. Smile

I finished the series Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix.

Wow. I am now a fan of F1 and will be following along this season. Not only did it bring out the "Grand Prix race car driver" feels from my childhood, but it showed the reality of the sport. It captures the raw emotions of racing on the highest level. I like that drivers show emotion, swear, and give honest answers. I like that team managers get into it with each other. I like that the press are not friends with teams. They all understand it's a business and this series shows what it's like to navigate that business and the emotions that come with it. I feel motocross can learn so much from this series.

We seem to suppress emotion in our sport in an effort to stay PC, which limits storylines. I feel as if we sometimes forget that this is a high stakes competition. By showcasing the emotions and the behind the scenes stories, fans can connect with the riders much more. Right now, especially with Feld and the media, the focus seems to be on becoming a nice, clean, easy advertisement platform. We need to return the focus to racing and the emotions that surround that. I can't help but imagine what a series from Feld could look like if they put more resources into accepting, promoting, and documenting the storylines that all these riders feel the need to keep hush hush about.

I also can't help but think it's a microcosm of a bigger issue. America simply tries to deny emotion and it's starting to show.
Watch it as well. Great production,

Senna, Prost, Mansell, Piquet ... those were the glory days.

I was at the Grand Prix of Canada in Montreal three weekends after your photo. Mansell's Williams shut down on the last lap, and Piquet stole the win in a Benetton.

They have identified the problem, but not so simple to fix,...

Awesome series. Sat down yesterday and watched it from start to finish. Loved the intense moments between the redbull team principle and Renault guys. It was almost kind of like it was a movie and scripted. I just keep asking myself why Ricciardo would go to Renault?

Thought that was pure gold... go ahead and leave us for Honda, we'll take Ricciardo

Why? This happens in moto all the time. PC or JGR build motors for people racing against their team.

that cracked me up "now you need engines and a driver"

"how are you going to afford everything after paying Daniel all that money"

"we have plenty of money"

I really do hope Ricciardo has some great finishes. You definitely got the vibe that Verstappen was always going to be #1 at redbull. Interesting to see that that they landed a podium with their first outing with Honda as well.

I think its the combination of absolute technical competence and raw competitor emotion that makes F1 so incredible to watch.

F1 makes no attempt to dumb it down nor do they make any attempt to calm the emotion down....they will put an engine designer in front of the camera and the dude will talk about pneumatic valves for 5 mins, they will put a team manager up there who loses his $hit over what some other team did (or didn't) do. They will put a driver up there who will put every emotion out there for us all to see. Hell ya that's amazing to watch!

This is what SX/MX should be doing. Not hiding behind some old world cloak.

You are absolutely correct. In one of the episodes they ask the mclaren technical guy if hes going to have a job come Monday. He was very uncomfortable but the journalists kept pressing him.

Hasn't always been this way. In the Bernie days, they gave you almost no access to anything. Other than the super rich, fans were treated like insects.

Movie Rush about Hunt and Lauda was a good film. Also good is documentary called When Playboys ruled. Its about James Hunt (F1) and Barry Sheene (Moto GP). I think you can find it on youtube.
