I am curious as to what format changes everyone expects in Supercross.

Any ideas?

It's been a few weeks since we've had one of these threads, and it is the off season...

Expect or want?

I expect expanded steel starting pads. Just a little trim around the edges, nothing crazy.

Not like what I'm after...

The latest I heard over this past weekend is to expect a Monster Cup-based format at select Supercross rounds next year...I believe we'll see this confirmed during the press conference at Monster Cup...if true.

The 3 seprates moto only and not the stupid joker lane I hope?

Either way not a fan of the format.

This is what I was thinking as well. I would be fine with more point paying races, but leave the joker lane out. Just my opinion though.

I wish they would just leave it like it is, personally.

a joker lane and 3 main events at selected races?...that's dumb....if your gonna do it...do it the same every round....and the joker lane....make it totally challenging..... like a jungle or something...with trees and vines hanging down and stuff.

I believe the Joker Lane wouldn't be included.

That is a shocking revelation from an insider!

Please no joker lane unless it is crazy technical where we see some lead changes caused by mistakes and they do it every lap.

I have no problem with the Monster Cup format but either do it at every race or don't do it at all.

That's how I feel. I don't like dabbling mid-season...commit to a format.

I think I'd like them to add reverse gate picks. A part from that leave it the way it is. They went to timed mains and I like that. Seems like it helped some riders and hindered others last year but overall it was a nice addition.

Sure hope the joker lane is not included at those Monster Cup format races.

Will there be a million bucks on the line if you sweep all three motos at those rounds? Yeah right!

If they add the Monster Cup format at some of the races I hope they get rid of the Monster Cup event. It's not needed.

I like the joker lane....makes a guy think. Seems to work really good in the car races they do that in.

Same song and dance.

I like the MEC format sans the joker lane. Curious if they'll commit to the timed events again or go back to laps like someone mentioned earlier. I thought I remember hearing that they're doing away with the semis again, too. Anyone else hear that?

Oh and nets.

I think it's funny that Motocross has tried 1 moto formats like Supercross in the past because a 2 moto format was hard to figure out who won and Supercross' winner take all Main Event gave each race a clear cut winner, now Supercross wants a 3 moto format? Laughable.

The Monster Cup has not produced great racing besides the year Stewart and Villopoto battled. Whether it's track design combined with the short races or just an off season race. Whoever gets the start tends to win the short Main, and no one really remembers a moto winner.

A lot of these guys that are complaining about the races being boring go to wayyyyy too many races and are jaded. There were amazing races this past season with the timed mains. Good luck topping the excitement of the last 3 races of the season this past year. In both classes.

The format isn't broken. The only change I would make would be to move the 450 Heats to the first races of the night. Then run 250 Heats. 450 Semi. 250 LCQ. 450 LCQ. 250 Main. 450 Main.

I like your idea of changing the race order, that would make more sense for the 450 guys that have to ride the LCQ.

I hope they don't go back to laps, timed races are much better IMO, they just need to get more dirt. I too remember something about doing away with the semis, I also remember hearing that when the semis are going on is when the TV viewership is at it's lowest so that could be why.

I think 3 shorter mains would be cool, most of the passing is in the first couple laps anyhow. Like mentioned above it would also be cool to invert the start gate pics based on the previous "moto" results. Win the 1st of the 3 races you get last gate pick and so forth. I know when there is a certain rider dominating, I always hope they get a bad start. Not that I want to see them do bad, just like to see them race their way to the front.
