Mitch employed another rider , Pourcel who had sustained much worse injuries than Forkner
That French rider suffered at the races but still had the fire to win, and did.

I would hope it’s a misunderstanding of how to use the thumbs up/down when reading a post like that. It’s hard to give a thumbs up to a father who said his daughter had to deal with cancer. Hopefully the down votes were a “bummer to hear about your daughter”
