I am so tired of struggling with contacts and not a candidate for vision correcting surgery. Anyone ride with these?
http://rxgoggles.com/product_rxadapters.html

If so, what do you think? Thanks.

I have a friend who rides with these. He claims to like them a lot. I want to get a set and try. I can't ride at night. Day riding is fine with clear goggles only for me.

i've been riding with contacts for years but i'm thinking about going back to glasses inside my goggles. during my Mexico trip i was constantly applying eye drops or taking my contacts out to get the dust out of them.

unfortunately, i am not a candidate for eye surgery so that is out for me.

to add to the issues, I have Degenerative Vitreous Syndrome (floaters in my vision) in my right eye. it doesn't affect my riding much but mainly my day to day activities. i have some funny stories about ducking for flying objects that weren't actually there.

i too would like to see some alternatives in this thread.

Oh man.....this thread just saved me. I have had to ride with glasses the past 3 - 4 yrs since I got back into riding. I can't wear contacts because I struggle with them very badly. They dry out and pop out out of my eyes.....and once they do that I can't see much of anything. I'll be getting a hold of these guys as soon as I can. Thank you OP for putting this up!!

I use them. It works great for me. I tried glasses under goggles and there was too much fogging. I had my inserts for Scott Goggles but now use them with 100% goggles.

I'm surprised people have a problem with contacts, but I can see where the issue is. I guess I got lucky with mine and never had to worry about them much when riding. I did put one in backwards once, and it fell out in the air. That was a fun 10 minutes at the track since I didn't bring my glasses with me. I ran sport goggles when I was younger, like what the basketball players wear, but the strap pressure would give me a killer headache. I was always under the impression that goggles like these could be a problem due to the distance between the eyes and the lenses, but it sounds like they work pretty well. May have to get a set myself considering I'm damn near blind.

Oh man, I can relate to the floaters!

I had detached retinas in both eyes, and got them fixed, well, sort of. Lost vision in both eyes, and have permanent floaters, too! Don't you just hate swiping at the bugs in front of your face that just aren't there? Makes you feel like a nutcase!

I, too, can't ride at night because my night vision is horrible!

hah! bingo.

i was touring a glass fabricator's shop and almost fell on the ground trying to duck out of the way of something falling on my head. my sales rep and the shop manager looked at me like i was on drugs. swatting at the fruit flies flying around my face get's old as well. they told me i'd get used to it but it sure as hell isn't happening. my night vision in my right eye is absolutely horrible.

My eyes have a weird shape to them and I tried like 5 different brands and types and none of them made my eyes feel very comfortable. The lens worked great while they were in , but having them pop out in a middle of a moto can get a little scary. I'm definitely making an appointment with my eye specialist within the next week or two.

It's hard when you are riding because the floaters move around and you just have to guess if that's really a rock in front of you or not?! Just guess and go is what I do! Sometimes it doesn't work out so well.

I almost had an optometrist get me a set of those with double vision correction. He didn't think it would help at all. He was an AMA pro in the 80s so I took his word for it.

fwiw.
are they polycarbonate or cr39 ..

"Poly is somewhere around 20-30% lighter than CR-39 and more impact resistant. It has a higher refractive index, but a lower Abbe value, so there's distortion around the periphery the more severe a prescription becomes and the larger the lens is. CR-39 is supposed to be optically superior, but the safety issue makes it a better choice for many people (and all minors, of course), and the thickness/weight are also a pretty major concern for a lot of people too."

I am one who gets distortion out of polycarbonate.cr39 user here.
so find out if option is available.

what I had done in the past for mx and watercraft racing, using a full face helmet.
bought the SCOTT over the glasses goggles and depending on how the stems protruded, cut into the goggle for relief.and would sew my helmet liner pad back, where the stems rubbed.worked great.

I used to do that same thing when I Scott sponsored me. I have to use wide frame glasses because my heads so damn big, so cutting little inserts in to the foam for the frame to sit really helped. My biggest problem with glasses while riding is the nose piece pushing against the bridge of my nose, giving me a headache pretty quick. We probably tried every model of OTG goggles when I was younger, and none really fit like you think they would. Cutting the foam was the easiest thing.

I use these (RXGoggle) and have since 2008. Once you use them you won't notice them and realize what a great product they are. There was a slight adjustment to getting used to them but this was just a few minutes. The only downside is dust, sweat or water getting in between the insert and the lens but this hasn't been that big of a deal.

I too cannot use contacts... they for some reason dry my eyes out fast and when I blink there is a period of losing all focus. I've tried different brand contacts with the same problem.

Good luck!

PS. You can use your own favorite goggles. With Pro-vue you need to buy their goggle and I didn't like this limitation or the expense.

Just call Randy at Pro-Vue and discuss your concerns. He's a moto nut and a good guy.

Don't do that!! The pro-vue don't interchange from different sets of goggles. I can take my RX adapter from one set of goggles to a fresh set in 30 seconds. The RX goggles are the way to go!!

a year ago my L eye went to shit. Went to my optomitrist and all they wanted to do was change my glasses at $500

went home and said F that there is a problem but was ablle to go back to old glasses and could see better.

Few weeks ago my eye sight went to shit. went to Christenbury eye center for a free evaluation. Guess who has 2 cataracts. Good news is there is some new technology where the lens 100% corrects your vision near far and in between. Bad news is insurance does not cover the new lenses..... $5500 out of pocket for just the 2 lenses!

Get L eye done Feb 16th.

I have terrible vision.
20/200..I can see the Big E on the eye chart and that's just because I know its an E
Fortunately contacts work well for me and have no issues while riding.
I do absolutely swear by yellow goggle lenses in the woods...they really do help to sharpen things up.

20/200, Hah! Try 20/450, each eye different. My problem is the contacts dry out and stick to my eyes. They eventually pop out, even the latest Oaisis models. Super comfy day to day though. I've gone back to glasses mainly due to astigmatism, which the contacts don't correct very well. It effects my balance when it comes to riding, but not anything else, just moto. By the way, 20/500 is considered legally blind. Who hooDizzy

I have tried those and they worked good except they would fog up between the two lens and dust would stick to it there. The only way to wipe it off was to take them out of the goggles which was a pain. I much prefer to ride with contacts, never had an issue.
