I see, the prices are quite low for mtb and quite high for bikes actually here in chile.

a 2011 crf 250 goes for about $3700-$4000 usd
the santa cruz nomad carbon can be sold at around $1500 usd, it costed me around $1400
and he´s asking for the bike plus $1660

So would be a crf 250 for around $3000, quite cheap, my brother bought a crf250 2008 at that price, and it´s considered cheap here.

i´d be willing to buy a rear rim since you guys are right, that rim seems to be toasted, i think that, if the engine is in good shape everything else is quite cheap and replaceable.
I sold my 2010 crf450, that was in way better shape than this bike, for 3200 last may. It took me about 4 months to sell it, third time I relisted and dropped the price. I even sold it with a new clamp and hose to repair that front brake line the previous owner fucked up.

I feel like you are paying way too much. That year 250 around here would sell for 2k. I'd say your mtb and 1k tops.

I'd pass as well... As others have said those aren't upgrades, too many "little things" wrong add up fast.

But if you are hell bent on it, also look closely at the chain slider where it wraps around the swing arm (just behind the front sprocket) and see if the chain has worn through the slider and into the swing arm, especially towards the bottom of the swing arm pivot. Chains can work evil if poorly adjusted.

Good luck with your decision!

That bike looks used & abused like it's been rode hard & put away wet. I'd pass on it & keep looking for a better cond. bike. Not sure what your budget is, but if your able to spend a little more you can usually get a better bike at better value. Meaning once you get into a higher bracket of value the bikes seem to be better cared for.

The fact that he is willing to trade for a mtn bike + cash appears he is trying to unload it.

It's apples and oranges here guys. I think the bike is a turd but what if a mountain bike and cash is what HIS market demands? I doubt he's got a Craigslist or Cycle Trade full of good used bikes in Chile so it may be as good as it gets for him.

Take the cash you have and use it as a down payment on a past model 250f that’s priced around 5k.

Holy shit dude! Where do you live?! I sold my 2011 YZ450F with a metric ton of after market parts, including motor work by GYTR. I only got $1500 for it.

Aftermarket junk all over a bike does not add value, it reduces it.
