Hitting the track today for the first time over 16 years. It's going to suck real bad being a beginner again but oh well.. I have mixed emotions from dread, apprehension and overwhelming excitement.

I'll report back later with how it went.

This right here. When I started riding after a 15 year hiatus, I jumped on the bike and it seemed as though I could just pick up where I left off. WRONG! My mind remembered what I used to do, but my body seemed to have forgotten some of that. When I tried to run the pace I remembered, I pumped up and got sketchy very quickly. If I just chilled out, rode around, and had fun, I could have ridden for an hour. It will take some time for your body to catch up to your memory, and even then, there may need to be a compromise. I’m not 25 anymore.

Well, the first ride back is in the books. Wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be but tons of work lies ahead of me for sure. Pumped up pretty bad on the fourth lap. Washed the front end out once in an off camber and face planted. I was a able to jump a few of the smaller doubles which I was reasonably content with.

Congrats dude. It usually comes back pretty quick (like riding a bike right..) I noticed immediately though how sore you are from moto specific muscles. It’s crazy how in shape you really are if you’re riding regularly/competitively. Enjoy your time back on the bike. I took about 10 years off going through school and jumped back in in my 30s. Now taking a bit of time off again with this COVId economic downturn. Hopefully will be back at it sooner than later.

Same here; possibly a longer time off. I'm 40 now and have a YZ125. The brain DOESN'T FORGET. I remember seeing a berm approaching and salivating just before blasting it to shreds, but my body didn't exactly respond exactly how my brain envisioned it. It was weird man.

Take your time, enjoy the F outta of it.

I got out of it around age 17 because I wanted to ride bmx more. I picked it up again at 35, though mainly woods riding and am having more fun now than I did when I was younger.
