The Journey Begins!

Here is my bike before I took it off the trailer. My goal is to make it spotless, since it must have been sitting for 6 months uncleaned. Really not bad, just oxidation and corrosion on the spokes, hubs, chain and engine. Here are a few pics, pretty easy stuff. Front wheel clean, back wheel still dirty. Used Lime Away sparingly on the spokes. You can see the grime on the rear sprocket. The chain felt like glue! Plenty of clean up on the swing arm as well.

Question: Check out the chain. Obviously never cleaned. Their is some rust, but it seems superficial. Only 6 hours on it... Can I clean it or do I need to replace it?

Thanks guys.

Now I need to come up with $1,000 for everything else?

What’s the story on the bike? Where was it stored for so long. I would maybe soak the chain in kerosene or something or can just buy a new primary drive chain and sprocket kit from Rocky mtn for less than $100

Put it in kerosene and let it sit a few days. Take a chain brush and scrub then. Good to go

Looks clean, well taken care of. With my age, ability and plans I am sticking to 350 or 250 to start. Thx
Eddieg15, how do you clean/ prep your chain? Both it and the sprocket look brand new!

Elbow grease. Sos pad works wonders on spokes. I wash it every time it's rode The chain brush helps. I also use shout on the bike. Cleans and leaves a shine

The story as I know it...

A kid in Vermont bought it, but the bank took it over due to missed payments. I bought it from a dealer of used dirt bikes and atv’s. They said the bike was probably repo’d dirty and probably sat for some time outside. Couldn’t have been too long since everything else looks great.
