First Truck?

1/20/2019 3:38pm Edited Date/Time 1/25/2019 12:37pm
Hey everyone, I am in the market for my first truck. I am considering old small sized trucks that can haul a 2018 150sx with bed closed.
I'm thinking of a lowered mini truck for super simple loading.
How does that sound? Does anyone have one?

You’re not going to find anything better that an older Toyota or Ranger, both will get the job done without killing you on gas or parts if it breaks down. You’ll be able to shut the tailgate easily if you kick the back of the bike over to one side, or you can get a bed extender. I did both setups for years on my Toyota pickup before I got my van, it worked great when I was still in school.

Chevy Colorado. we have enough offensively loud, ego driven big trucks with all the (ridiculous) attitude. rise above that, and get something unique.

35 to 45 year old chicks really like mini vans. Get a mini van, a little trailer, and a sugar momma.

Tacoma +1 if you want small - I have an 02 Silverado I bought a few years ago for about the same as what similar year/mileage Tacoma’s were going for. I love my old Z71.

Imo condition and miles are more important than brand
And big plus if its 1 owner, i worked in the car business for 18 years and the 1 owner thing is True not just a myth
They are always nicer and if you buy it private party
The ownet will be able to tell you every thing thats ever been done to it.

Still have my first truck! My dad bought it brand new in 83 and I bought it from him in high school. It's an oldie but a goodie. and it will haul a bike facing forward with the tail gate closed!

I put 300k on a 2000 Toyota Tundra, bought brand new.. worked it hard loaded and towing a 15 ft enclosed trailer..only basic matience it never let me down, and at 200k Toyota replaced the frame and every brake line etc on it under warranty...took 3weeks and they gave me a new tundra so I could keep working, made in the USA..

Awesome! My dad bought mine new in 86 and it became mine in high school as well, I learned to drive it growing up by packing jumps in our backyardLaughing . I really wish mine had the older style bed like that, I don't know why I just like the look better for some reason. You really can't beat these things though, I'll still take it any day over a new full sized truck.

x3 on the Tacoma if you can find one cheap enough. They hold their value pretty well and people pay big money for them.

My '13 just rolled over 165,000 miles and hasn't even hiccuped yet. I figure it'll have about 350K on it when I hand it over to my son.

Love my Tacoma, keep saying I want a new truck but like mine way to much, 07 model just clicked 110,000 miles no major issues other then routine maintenance.

That's a clean looking truck! Any info about the wheels? I'm planning to replace the stock rims on my rig. I saw a good deal on moto metal wheels but I'm still undecided.

Just turned 332K miles in my 2000 Tundra. Toyotas are pricey but they do last

I recently got a Ranger and I love it. I'm super short and a full size truck is tough to my bike in/out of. The Ranger makes everything a breeze. You can reach things in the middle of the bed from outside the truck so you can really load/unload super fast. If I upgrade I'll get a Canyon or Colorado. I might even get a Ranger that's in better condition if mine ever blows.
