Posted a while back about the Moto scene here in VA got a bunch of solid responses from the locals to the area. Well my wife and I finally made the move last week, we've hit up Morgan's, ECMX and Slade's so far with a guy we met at the track.

Anyway, would any of you vital guys want to meet up with us next weekend May 18/19 I'd like to head to Southfork MX if anyone's interested. All weather dependent of course.

I was in Va Beach just yesterday. My brothers and I have been to Morgan’s Corner, Slade’s and Southfork and had great experiences in the past. We don’t currently ride.

South fork (think it was called something else then) was the best/closest option when I lived in Norfolk. Track was a lot of fun.

Budds creek is one of few tracks open on weekdays in the area. We could probably get a cheap vital ride day on a Thursday or friday. Or maybe lake sugar tree, place looks amazing.

Is slades that “off-road free for all” place? I think I went there to break in new bikes a couple times and almost got murdered by some drunk quadtards

Hold up Slades!? I'm with this guy. Man that has been a 4x4 4wheeler mud hole trail place forever unless something has changed.

They use to have dirt drags there that was pretty cool to watch, but I don't think they are doing that anymore.

When you get to traveling. Check out Birtch Creek, Budds creek, lake sugar tree, NCMP, deep woods, and west craven. All with in 3 hours.

Birch Creek is one of the best tracks I've ever rode.

Do they still ever have the Virginia beachcross thing? I raced that once and it was awesome. They built a track on the beach in front of the boardwalk. If they ever have it again, I’d make the trip for that!!

Right lol! I’d imagine that place now being chalk full of side by sides. I remember he had a couple loops around the property but the trail was horrible. I’ve probably been spoiled being from MI and having a pretty good trail system here though.

I ultimately left the navy because of the lack of good riding in that area. If I’d been stationed on the west coast, it might have different. Shit, I’d have had my 20 this year. UGHHHH

Yea that's the one, we went during the week we were the only two there. The trails are pretty beat, but we were able to put together a few small loops that were fun. Plus it's a free for all do what you want, make your own single track, I had fun anyways.

Anyone down for the this weekend then?

You know everyone thinks that, but having lived there you spend just as much time in the car as you would in VA going to the tracks because traffic.

I hear ya, and you're probably right as I have zero patience for traffic..

Honestly, Va Beach wasn't that bad, I think my biggest issue was riding by myself. I never found anyone to ride with, and i'm not real social so that didn't help. It seemed like the local scene there was pretty non existent and at the time, being in the Navy felt like a disadvantage when talking to locals. (didn't feel welcome at times) Where I'm from in MI, I grew up with a dozen perfect tracks within 45 min of home, as well as all the trail you wanted. So going somewhere the complete opposite really bummed me out. I lived in a small apartment, with my RM125 in my living room, so I had to look at it every day..

Like I said earlier, Southfork was the goto for me and I think you'd like it a lot. I did the ECMX thing a few times, and when I was there, Budds Creek didn't have a lot of open riding, or I would have went there for sure.

I always wanted to hit Sugartree, and the others on that side of the state.

You can try Roberts Track and Trails in Gloucester. I live in the Richmond area and I see a lot of riders from the va beach/Norfolk area there. They have one main moto track, two kids tracks and about 8 miles of single track trails.
