Only $10 for all 2024 SX, MX, and SMX series (regularly $30).
Remove pipe, drain coolant, lay bike on left side, remove side cover, remove PV assembly, remove the washer pointed out above. reassemble with PV assembly placed in the side cover.
Only hang up you MIGHT have is having to move the wheel a tiny bit (while in gear) to get the PV assembly gearing to align and it'll drop back in. The side cover gasket can be re-used several times before you need to replace it.

I like the power delivery of the X a lot, but I could see it being improved ever so slightly. Kinda cool that you can experiment with different PV settings. Just the shorty alone opened it up quite a bit.
However, of course your mileage may vary and there are some guys who enjoy the stock setup more, typically woods only riders. Definitely give it a shot and see what you think!
...that big bore will rattle your teeth out, and literally suck every bit of top end power and over-rev out of the powerband.
...a ported, properly chambered, and properly jetted YZ250 (with a cast piston) may not make as much midrange power, but I'd take one over a 325 every single day of the week. The vibration, harshness, and lack of over-rev just aren't worth it.
But the most awesome part of the YZ ESR 325 Engine, is a nice hit forward in the last 2K RPM! Staying with a 450, is now about equal!
I will grant you that your TX300 is a better, less vibration type of engine, the magazine articles loved it, so GOOD for Husky & KTM.
But the YZ ESR 325 Kit (Cylinder, Weisco Piston, Machined Head & Gaskets) at $900, is the best value upgrade for a YZ/YZX 250 for the money. A new Husky TX 300 might be nice, but to get one at list price is $9,199, maybe a used one can be found in the future.
Which ever OEM, KTM, Husky, Yamaha, Beta, Gas Gas, Sherco or TM, decides to introduce a 2-Stroke Injected 350, 400 or 450, you can expect the 4 Stroke 250 & 450 sales to drop big time!
I can tell you that once you ride it on the MX Track & some Off-Road areas, you really appreciate the Linear (almost Electric like Powerband) power of a 325.
It's the best value (least expensive) MX/Off-Road Motorcycle you could have. With a 2-Stroke 325, its Less hassle and more FUN!! .
250 to a 325
I am currently running a Derrick Harris ported cylinder and head. Thing rips hangs with 450's for sure. But I was interested in the 325 kit for a woods bike/ dunes fun bike. Sounds like you like it alot.
