Good news, it seems like it looked way worse than it was!

Hope it wasn't anything close to a concussion. Anymore of those and he ends up on the bench.

I will say, I'm amazed, I thought for sure that his ankle/lower leg went KABOOM!

Are we sure that's not something falling of the bike? Like a handguard, his visor or something making it look like his foot is fucked up?

Good to hear, the last thing we need is a potential title contender out for the year after the first round

I'm gonna guess that he has some ankle ligament damage. But the good news is that he can probably ride at Matterly if the ligaments are "only" stretched, it wont be nice and comfortable but it will be possible.

Even so, can you imagine how long it takes for that soreness to subside?

Probably around a month or so?

I'm a Tottenham fan and for those who don't know, their biggest star Harry Kane has had multiple bad ankle ligament injuries (his ankle has been bent exactly like that about 4 times) and he has been off the pitch every time around 1-2 months.

I know that this is all speculation but i would guess that you could come back and ride a lot sooner than that with a stiffer Alpinestars boot and pain injections?

Anyways. I thought his season was done when i saw the picture, so this is relatively good news!

Being an older vet rider , that would mean 6 months of fishing going. That looks painful as hell!

When I did something similar in 98 my old school doctor came and said... well son the good news is it isn’t broken, the bad news is it isn’t broken.... you will have problems with this ankle for the rest of your life. 20 years later he was right... this damn thing hurts almost everyday, roll an ankle on a blade of grass I can!!! Grinning

He may have to strap the hell out of it to race, but potentially could with some strong pain killers....but I would be surprised if he did race

First time I watched the crash was at normal speed, really didn't look all that bad.
Just slowed it way down, and it looks much worse. You know it there was some force involved when the bars snap off, not just bend. Ankle has to feel like he got in a fight with John Danaher. Ouch.

Well that's a screen shot.. That could be an illusion caused by the camera.. Left foot all blurry for example

Hahaha, no, hell no. That's how I always preface my medical opinions. Same goes for my legal opinions.

So true. Did a major sprain in 1973, turns out there was a small fracture. It's been unstable ever since and have sprained it several more times. It bone on bone now and I have had several docs tell me to fuse it and in a year I will be happy again. My MRI report has more gobbledygook in it than you can believe for such a small joint.

The good news is the right foot can tolerate a way stiffer boot - no shifting and while the brake is a little a feel thing - with the four stroke you could in theory set up the bike to have more engine braking and negate need for rear brake in most corner entries

MX Boots still frustrate me - the protection level isn't what it needs to be.
I think consumers are stupid in wanting "flexible" good feeling boots. They should closer to a ski boot than a tennis shoe IMHO.

The closest I've had is a JET - only two complaints were the boot has almost no protection the the top of your foot where the boot flexes - and the ankle hinge breaks constantly.

Agreed. I broke my foot in a get-off where I did that same motion. Bone healed fine but still have messed up ligaments and my foot points inward. It's fine to ride though after "healing", he'll be ok in some minor pain I'd guess.
