This is how we did it in 1985, yo. Hallman gear (before it was THOR,) a Bell Moto 4 with a DMC sticker on the visor (the only DMC thing I owned,) and a 3 year-old bike. It may as well have been thirty years, because my arch-rival Joe Casillas on the YZ behind me had about 66% more suspension travel than I did. Grinning

was his grandpa if i remember right. owned a mine or something. vaguely remember because he always rolled into loretta's with a greyhound tour bus conversion and parked by the starting line i think. i'm sure someone will chime in and give the info if i'm off.
Yes it was his grandfather.

Have not been by his grandfathers house in a few years, but as of a few years ago he still had that bus sitting outside his house (30+ years later).

When he pulled into Ponca in 84 with that bus, it was the talk of the week. Bigger than rock star status, even factory guys back then just had box vans.

The converted custom Greyhound bus was on a whole new level of cool. He was barely a teenager at the time.

Who is that on the #67 YZ with Paul Denis in Smez’s post? I want to say Troy Blake, but I’m not sure that’s right.

Haven't seen this photo of Bradshaw before. Looks like a stock class judging by the pipes
168 definitely needed to get rid of that helmet

I’m pretty sure #67 was Steve Skibel

I was gonna say that, or either Keith Bowen? Bike is an 81, so the year would possibly fit.....

Curious of these bikes. I know Google it but I like to hear vital member insights. What is an SMR? Greenish bike? What year is the KTM? I'm only familiar in their comeback of chrome and orange. Did they do all size bikes in the white/beige monotone or was that custom?

Kalos was also a very fast rider.

This thread brings back so many killer 70’s memories👍🏻 Never did race mini’s - started on 100’s.

Anyone remember a rider named Shaun Kelly? Was from Houston and had some really trick Yamaha 60's. Was really fast. I went to High school with him and worked at his dad's Firestone store.

I think the middle bike is a KTM50. Over in England and i think Euro they run bored out 50’s with 65 wheels and bigger suspension

Those white KTMs are mid-80s stock colors. I'm going to guess 1986, by the similarity to a competitor's KTM125 I once raced against. The tanks are white too; age and gasoline have conspired to turn them brown.

EDIT: PS- the SMR looks like a Polini. I wonder if it's the same machine with a new brand name?
