Muddy for us, the Intermediate & Novice riders that ran in the morning, and drying out for the Experts that ran in the afternoon.

Is that the same Beta company that entered the MXGP series this year?

/\ Yes, in name at least. I can't say that the company has the same owners as it did back in 1982 however. The bike above sold yesterday at the Mecum Las Vegas MC auction for $5,500. I think somebody got a good deal on a rare bike.

I'm pretty sure that Beta is still an Italian owned company. A fair few MC 'names' have been bought up by Chinese companies and are now made in China eg: Benelli.

But Beta are still, I think under the (family?) ownership they had since separating from Bianchi.

Where's our Johnny Depp? He usually pounces on any Beta mention, and I'm sure he'd know Beta's history far better than I.

A recent 'foreign' acquisition of a bike brand is Norton, which is now owned by TVS, an Indian company that makes 4 to 5 million Motorcycles a year. I think they've also got rights to the 'Italian' Husky 4t engines, and use them on some of their bikes, and sell them to others, like SWM - though, maybe they own SWM as well? , I'm not sure.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bi**hing about that, as, without TVS rescuing Norton after Stuart Gardners efforts, it would be gone, and / or only the Norton name surviving, to be put on dubious things. TVS have opened a real Factory, Engineering and Development facility in Britain, for Norton, as against the Country Estate that Gardner had them in, and, they are investing many Millions in Norton. cool

The World relies on Foreign / Overseas investment, but it's sad to see companies , at times, just being subsumed into huge companies, that then just place the brand names they've bought on 'things'.

Heck, Bajaj own something like 49.? % of KTM now, and, if Mr Pierer ever loses his enthusiasm for Motorcycles, they'll get full controlling interest of KTM. Or, CFMoto in China, who KTM have 'partnered' with, will snaffle them up.
