It has come to my knowledge that a swedish high-level rider (in sweden) destroyed his knee, because his FOX Pod-kneebrace suddenly broke when he was laying down after a slow-speed slide. He was laying down and thinking how he should push away his bike when his Pod knee-brace suddenly broke in the middle because some fibre-rope connecting upperpart with lowerpart suddenly snapped!? So he actually got slowly injuried laying down! His father told me that he now must do a highly expensive knee-surgery in Belgium. And 6 months (!) rehab so his knee hopefully being ok again. And he also liked to send out a warning for FOX Pod kneebrace. Do not use it even for gardening he says... In the commercial Fox says it´s the strongest ever. DO NOT belive that b..it! FOX also says that about their helmets.......Scary? Anyone else heard about bad protectiongear?

Never heard of that before. Most likely he damaged the brace and himself while crashing, not realizing at first due to the adrenaline.

I suspect that the damage was already caused by the crash or previous crashes over the years and he did not realize it. I shattered my L Elbow into about 15 peices back in 1996 and didnt realize it was broken until i picked my bike up, remounted, and tried to start it.... the downward motion caused the elbow to flex and the gross grinding popping began..... then the pain and I realized I was pretty messed up!

I guess the American way of blame everyone but yourself has slowely migrated over to Sweden..... and thats a shame!

I broke my collarbone in a slow-speed crash aswell, not realizing it until I tried to pick my bike up. Shit happens sometimes. Protective gear is supposed to break.

MXA consistantly praises the Fox POD knee braces. Anyone here have any feedback on them?

If the brace broke, the brace did not cause his knee to be damaged. The force of a heavy bike pressing his leg into the ground while he was crashing caused the knee to be damaged, as well as breaking the brace.

Too many factors involved in any crash to come on here and make a claim like that. Also to say he was just laying there and it broke and caused this injury...that doesn't really make sense. They are not spring loaded or something where if they broke they would cause this. Sounds like there is more to this than what you are writing. Maybe they are just mad he crashed going 5mph in the rain and ruined his knee. Sort of like blaming a helmet after you lawn dart yourself into the ground and have a head injury.

First of all the POD is not "made by" but "distributed by" Fox.

Funny that someone would join Vital just to post an attack on a product/brand.

You need a trend, repetition of failure, more examples, before you can, as a simple individual, make such claim about a product/brand.

One quick off subject questions though: why does he have to go to Belgium to get an expensive knee-surgery? Why not use the Swedish healthcare system, you have some very skilled orthopedic surgeons. I have a Swedish friend from Chicago who went there to get hid back surgery a few years back, and his wife went back for cancer treatments too, seems to be weird to go to Belgium for that.

I got to try out a pair of POD's last January while out riding in Hollister. I loved them and will be purchasing a set as soon as my Asterisks wear out

Wandell. The rider bought 3 pair for this season because he belived in them and they fit real good. Now they are put aside, because if you spend all your and sponsors money on racing. Train 1-2 times a day 6 days a week. You can't afford using products wich put you aside the track. No i don't work for another kneebrace manufactor. And i already like this forum because i spell like a 5 year kid and i'm still probably one of the smartest here =)

Big- for your second language, you are doing fine with English, but I am like Shenzi, as to why your first posts here is a slam of a quality company with a good reputation.

The riders father asked me to check if it happend before and also send out a warning on the biggest possible forum. We also think that the good reputation quality company, earning big bucks on a chinese-made s..tproducts. The kneebrace took away a full SX-season in Europe (not mention costs an rehab) but hopefully he recovers in time for outdoor. If surgery going as planned... Surgery in Belgium? If you are a Mxrider you go there to Everts,Ramons,Rattrays specialist. If you are a downhillracer in States you go to Aspen, Colorado perhaps? One question? Can you recommend this product to any friends son or daughter or your own racing family, knowing what you know? You never put your family in a Chinese built car do you? Or made in Taiwan? Thats about it. I also tried to teach a Canadian rider to put on grips today.......Oh God what i feel smart on vitalmx.

No different than Villo, his old knee injury finally caught up to him, and Stewart tore his knee in a simple tip over in a slow turn, The knee has to be the most poorly designed part of the human anatomy, aside from the brain of couse Tongue
