They say never meet your heroes, right? I think McGrath and Mitch are the exceptions to that rule.
Every interview I've heard, every interaction I've witnessed involving those two has been awesome. They are both just genuine people with great perspective and awareness of who they are WITHOUT the ego usually associated with their status.
His answer to "how do you want to be remembered?" is the perfect example of that.
For some guys, being in a chair is the end.... for others like mitch, it was just the beginning.....
It ain’t easy that is for sure. With that said, time helps people cope. Everyone goes through the learning curve just like anything in life. I have used my time of recovery/healing to build products for a fun business adventure. The key is to set new goals and reassert your lifestyle.
Is there anyone who hasn't dreamed of having a fully modded PC bike?! Great interview of a great guy and incredible ambassador for the sport.
I have a pretty built up KTM 125 from PC. It's the same motor package they built for Ping, he just runs MRX02 where I jetted for C12 because I don't have bottomless pockets. PC is really a great company, any time I have ever had questions about the specs on what is done to the bike they have been awesome to work with. Mitch was always one of the coolest dudes in the pits from what I've heard. I remember when Darryn Durham interviewed with someone and talked about how Mitch would always give him "the nod" when he saw him around after the infamous picture of Durham passing Rattray.
Mitch is The Real Deal. From the good ol’days with Andy Jefferson and Bill Keefe...to the current Racing During The Zombie Apocalypse...

The dude has been wide open. I truly respect that.
Anyone catch the 24 Hours of Glen Helen “thing” he did with Preston Campbell and JCR?
Closest thing to De Coster that America has produced in terms of influence if you focus on non-riding career, IMO, and there are some stellar honorable mentions in terms of personalities driving critical companies to whom I intend no disrespect.
I worked for Mitch and Bones in the early 2000's. Probably one of the easiest going owners I've ever worked for. Bones on the other hand....he was no nonsense and cut nobody slack. Learned a TON from both of those guys.
I have old pictures from 79 or 80 racing Saddleback and most of them have me and a guy with Bones and Bacon on his gear. That’s an easy name to remember. He was on a Husky and probably running one of those new PCP pipes. 😀. Thanks for the video Mav.
I wonder how different things would be in so many ways if Mitch had not gotten injured. His injury spawned an empire and revolutionized the sport.
