I've been on the fence about buying a pipe for my 2018 350 SX-F. All of the reviews indicate that the FMF, Pro Circuit, and Yosh all increase power in the mid to top, but add nothing to the bottom end. I've also read that the mega bomb header doesn't increase power, and only reduces weight. I don't feel the need for any more power up top, so it's really just a bling item at this point.
I added 2 teeth to the rear sprocket and that woke up the bike for my riding style. I think a a vortex ignition or remap would be the next logical thing to do in regard to adding power or redistributing the delivery.
I can't think of a time other than trolling the pits when I'm in the low part of the RPM range on my 350. I haven't bothered to add a pipe yet but I bought this bike because I wanted something with less hit than a 450.
I was talking to Tom Zont last week about mapping. He said he has recently remapped and dyno'ed a Husky 350 with a full FMF system with Megabomb and it had made an increase in power across the range. He also mentioned that the slip on by itself didn't do much. I don't know that it would necessarily add bottom end by itself but with good mapping paired with it, it may. The question is, is it worth spending a couple hundred $ to gain 1-2 hp and maybe only a little increase in bottom end? That's up to you. My recommendation would be that if you want to go with an after market exhaust, have your bike remapped by a reputable tuner to get the most performace.
