As part of the campaign Say NO! to Doping, launched at the MotoGP round in Qatar last March, the FIM recently continued its awareness-raising and educational efforts in the FIM Endurance and Sidecar World Championship rounds in Le Mans.

In addition to the general briefing, the riders were given information about the Athlete Biological Passport, Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUE) and the ADAMS anti-doping management system. They were also encouraged to visit the e-learning platform (ADeL) developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The ALPHA (Athlete Learning Program about Health and Anti-Doping) programme is one of the many modules available on ADeL. It gives athletes information about the dangers of doping and the importance of anti-doping controls and promotes positive attitudes to avoiding doping. The tool shifts the focus from what athletes are not allowed to do, to offering solutions for clean progression in sport.

The FIM’s intention is to make this training course mandatory in the future for all riders applying for an FIM licence. In order to receive their certificate, riders must complete the all sections of this course, as well as the post-course Attitude Survey and the final exam.

This matter is of considerable importance since the riders may face a suspension of up to four years for a first anti-doping rule violation under the FIM Anti-Doping Code, which is based on the WADA Code.
