I know that many euros do not like SX because they don't have a dog in it or tracks to train on, but I do think so, that the US SX is more followed than the MXGP in Europe. In term of atmosphere too, each venue is at least matching in attendance the best GP venues like the UK, France, Italy, Belgium and Netherlands. Only the MXdN is above all.

Maybe right now the current GP generation is competitive against the US top guy (Tomac, Dungey, RV at 95%), but in the like past 30 years the US have always produced and attracted the best riders, McGrath and RC as native but also in terms of "internationals": Bayle, Albertijn, Pichon, Tortelli, Vuillemin, Roncada, Langston, Reed, CP, Rattray, Searle, Anstie, Musquin, Roczen, Ferrandis. Not all have titles, still this list has 15 world championships (whereas it was only a step as they competed most of their career in the US). Lots of GP riders that stayed in the GPs would not have titles or so many titles if the list above had been there.

To be considered as THE best, you have to win both in SX and MX so the US is at least a 3 to 5 years experience to do.
We (meaning euros) do have some dogs in SX, Isn't Roczen and Musquin European? Lack of interest has nothing to do with nationality, SX just gets boring (and I'm a moto freak) within first 3-6 rounds. I assume that a casual viewer couldn't tell A1 from A3, it would be like watching A1 twice. On the other hand, SX event is fun to watch live for a casual viewer just as going to the cinema or monster truck show is. You don't have to be a hardcore SX fan to attend and be entertained.

I disagree with the last paragraph also. To be considered THE best motocross racer you have to be the best at motocross. Again, what does SX have to do with it? It is a different game, it's just played with the same equipment.

Just to make it clear, I enjoy watching AMA Nationals just as much as I enjoy watching MXGPs. From round one, to the last checkers of the season, every year.

i mean like people from outside the USA ...how many people in that stadium came from outside USA ? lol

SX is the pinnacle of the sport for the USA mx part , i get that ...

you really think USA SX is watched more or followed more in Europa as MXGP ?? you cant be serious :-)
Based by the amount of people from outside the US that bitch about the coverage every year...I would say more watch SX outside the US than people outside Europe watch the GP's....In all seriousness I think you would be surprised at how many people outside the US follow and watch the SX races...FYI I watch all the races, GP's, SX and USMX, and they all have things that they are better at than the others and all have areas that they can improve on...

Herlings couldn't carry Tomac's jock strap at the MEC or Musquin or Roczen or Barcia or........list goes on. Yet I read in another thread that he is the FMOTP? Agreed the Herlings is fast on open outdoor tracks he has raced for years. Likely 2 or 3 riders (Tomac, Anderson, Barcia) from the US could compete with him if they focused solely on outdoors and only rode half filled gates all the time. I guess we will see at Red Bud!!!!
MAYBE Tomac but the other two haha not a chance

And lol att guys saying Herlings wouldn't have a chance at the MEC. The dude is incredible

It's not like all he can do is ride in the sand

Starting to love SX ? Can't get enough of it lol ?

Exactly. Incredible talent. Same level as Tomac and Roczen prior to his massive set backs. There are only 1, 2 to 3 riders like that every 10 years.

Anderson and Musquin are championship calibers if things go their way, but ... Herlings is what is missing to KTM/Husky to really challenge Tomac on pure speed.

I would love to see Herlings at the MEC. Would a podium change his mind? Probably not, and certainly not for 19, but at the end of 19 he should have already achieved his number 1 goal which is to beat Everts's 101 GP wins, so who knows.

Maybe because its $15-20K out of their pockets to go race over there just for MXdN

Tim Gajser showed a lot more speed at Monster Cup than I was expecting. Granted it is a mellowed down SX track it terms of technicality.

I could see Herlings easily on the podium for Monster Cup if he ran it.

For actual Supercross, I think Herlings can definitely win, it would probably take him a year or two to get it fully figured out though. Remember, Roczen crashed his brains out when he first made the transition.

With the MXdN just a week before, I would say it is this year or never for a lot of GP riders.

The main issue is the bikes are set up very differently, Gajser did great (well until ...). Not sure others can do as great.

- Gajser, let us hope he give it another try, he did more than great for a first time.
- Paulin or Febvre should be able to race with a decent set up.
- Herlings can too, too much talent. He did well at the SMX cup too.
- Prado but I don't think he has ever trained on a 350/450.
- Lawrence ? It may be risky to try to race just after a week of sx prep.
- Anstie ? Why not since he is looking for a ride (I thought he was going HRC with Bogers out for longer)
Prado trained or tested the 350 last year, but I do not think he goes to the MC because he does not think about it, he is focused on getting the title of MX2 and also if he raised it, he does not have time before the race to train some Supercross . But being focused on MX2 and with such a long season I doubt that in his first year of opting for the title of MX2 he turned his attention to the MC
Without the whoops I do not see it as dangerous, I see the Red Bull Rhythm Section more dangerous

The music is painful which is why it got a thumb down (not from me), but the speed and style are there. If he decide to move to the us, I don't see why he wouldn't do as well as Ferrandis or Musquin for instance. I do think however that he is really tempted to take the golden spot at DeCarli, which is very understantable.

And BTW you are right about the RBSR, it is only for SX specialists. They go 110% in it and there is not much room for error. The MEC (or Paris) seems much better as first steps.

RichardHerlings has been huffing glue if he thinks the GP's draws a bigger audience than SX.

Not exactly shocking though. Lets just hope that ol' Richards panties don't get so wadded up that he forgets how to speak English again.

I am curious about how many people watch the mxgp on subscription? 50,000 maybe? Anybody know how to come up with the real numbers, I know how many watch supercross on tv because the numbers are published.

Tomac has lined up in MXGP, and blown the doors off everybody more than once.
