FUNCHAL (Portugal), 25 June 2013 - After a meeting between manufacturers and FIM, Youthstream and FIM Europe are glad to announce the start of a new European 300cc 2 stroke Championship next season. All the parties agreed that this series is likely to have a great success and it will be the base to take part in the FIM Motocross World Championship.

The market demand of the 2 stroke for Motocross is increasing rapidly. Youthstream plans to hold between 6 to 7 races together with the MXGP (like it is already done for the 125cc and 250cc). The suggested capacity for the technical rules is going to be from 200cc to 300cc 2 stroke.

Youthstream and FIM Europe believe a large number of riders is going to participate in this Championship, especially taking into account that the FIM MX3 World Championship will stop in 2014 and for sure there will be many riders willing to enter the new European 300cc 2 stroke series.

Awesome, so does this mean there will be a 300 2 stroke rider on each MXoN team now ? Smile

Unknown about the MXoN situation but I'm definitely ready for a 125 support class at SX (when the KTM Juniors aren't racing) and a 300 support class at a few Nationals.

Can I get a "hell yeah!" ?

Bubba should stop riding now, get healthy, and go ruin those guys.

Awesome news. Can't wait to see how or if the OEMs respond to the new class.

Would be cool if some of that thinking would eventually drift across the ocean and wash up on the AMA's doorstep. Maybe a brain will show up in their mailbox that will.fit one of the empty heads they have there too.

Very cool. Essentially they kicked four strokes out of MX3. Interesting to see if T M and GasGas get involved, and if KTM gives any factory support to it.

" After a meeting between manufacturers and FIM, Youthstream and FIM Europe are glad to announce the start of a new European 300cc 2 stroke Championship next season." So only major manufacturer to attend the meeting was KTM?

Does Husqvarna still make a 300? This new class is a breath of fresh air in professional MX. You can take it to the bank KTM will field an effort in this new class.

MBR-Yamaha makes a 250 two stroke that can easily be tweaked to 300 so I would assume Yamaha was for this new class as well.

EDIT: ATKPilot99-Great question RE: MXoN impact. Can't wait to find out what the story is. How unreal would it be to have two strokes and four strokes racing against each other at the MXoN?

Interesting!! There was talk of more discussions between the manufacturers and YS regarding changing the capacity limits for 2 strokes. I guess this is as far as those talks went? No parity in the main GP classes, but give them an extra Euro class

200-300cc..... which pretty much means any 250 two stroke is good enough, even one of those 1985 Honda things

I like the 1985 reference but if anyone wants to win that class I can't see them doing it on anything but a 300. I think we will be pleasantly surprised at the different brands that will line up for round 1.

Can't wait to see what TM comes up with for a '14 250/300. Last year the 125 got the electronic powervalve, this year the 144 got it. The 250/300 engine has just been getting minor updates for a real long time now, I bet they go all out!

I'd like to see an open displacement two stroke class from 125-500cc

You're pretty stupid to think that you can't make a 250 go as fast as a 300. It's not the size of the motor it's what's in the motor Wink
Other hand, this BAD FUCKING ASS and i hope DC takes notice... you cant find time at 6 races for two 15 minute practices and 2 twenty minute motos?? Here you go ill help you out, start 30 minutes earlier, have the first moto before 450s and end with the two strokes at the end of the day. It's not rocket science.
