Btw, the answers are...

7 of the bikes in the Main had e-start (Exactly 1/3 of bikes in the main).
The Top 4 had e-start.
6 of the Top 10 had e-start.
8 of the bikes that qualified for the Main had e-start (Canard DNS).

I heard that KROC has an extra start button under the tank so if he crashes and destroys the one on his bars he can still start the bike - anyone confirm?

Not exactly. Chad and Cooper tested with it, but decided not to race with it.

Weight, more than likely. As the Yamaha is already pretty heavy (2nd heaviest of the class, stock wise).

I think Chad's exact words on Pulp were "they didn't feel like it was race-ready" or something along those lines. Weight may have played a part in it as well. Out of all the factory level machines, I'm thinking they're the heaviest right now as there are some things that are added to their bikes.

Weight. JT$ said that Chad has problems with the excess weight of the blue pig as it is.

Seems crazy that they just can not make the bike lighter?......there must be some ways left to reduce the over all weight of the YZF somehow?......Chad, any ideas!?.

I'm sure there are ways to reduce the weight legally, but you have to keep in mind these guys run burlier-than-stock wheels, heavy triple clamps, etc. You'd have to trade off weight for reliability, something I wouldn't risk on a SX track for sure.

In regards to the Yammies having ES, I guess the Production rules allow modifications to run ES given the Yamaha team tested with it...is that only because the YZF450F has the casings already setup for it (due to the FX having it?) If thats true, then the Suzuki and Kawasakis could never have ES added for SX/MX teams??? Anyone know??

Not a bad idea, if I was still racing a lot I would have the same setup. The only time the electric start ever failed me was during a yardsale and my brake master cylinder sheared off the wires to my start button.

The RMX450 comes with electric start so Suzuki could probably make that work on the RMZ. Unfortunately looks like Kawi will be the last with estart it seems.

Exactly. Unfortunately they had to learn the hard way but the idea is so simple, I'm surprised no one thought about it until it caused an issue.
