They say Unadilla is the most Euro AMA track.

Is Ernee the most AMA Euro track?

I think Coop and JMart will go fast here.

That is nothing like an AMA National track. Super narrow and tight, dry, not ripped deep. It's going to be hell for team usa to win.

All of the above plus, huge intimidating crowd, Euro tire suppliers will make our guys think they're on slicks, different gas and different muffler means an unfamiliar bike. Steep terraced hills with narrow switchbacks on the hillsides. Nobody really wants to speak English (why should they), great food at the concession stands at the back of the spectator area on the top of the valley. See for yourself. The dollar is strong. Oh, and it might rain too.

different gas and different muffler means an unfamiliar bike

Steve Lamson told me last year after the race Jeremy Martin said while his bike was slower it was much easier to ride. Gothic Jay at Honda and Ian at KTM both said Tomac's and Dungey's bikes aren't set to full power in the states anyway so they just dialed in some more power to recreate the power they've had back home.

All of this to say is I don't think the bike differences play into our results that much.

Also to the different muffler at least one factory rider has been running an FIM spec muffler for all the outdoors and appears to have plenty of power. Where mufflers really come into play is the MEC where some privateers show up with mufflers they've been using in outdoors but don't pass sound. The sound levels are the same in both SX and MX but people take advantage of MX Sports' voluntary sound test compliance program and run a louder more powerful muffler. Life is good then they get surprised when they show up at the MEC.

I have never liked this track for holding MxDN. Nothing to really separate the guys with balls. Small old track IMO.

But plenty to separate the guys with skill.

It is very narrow...I will give you that...but the rythm of the track does not look typical euro to me. I think Coop especially will do well here.

It is definitely a very weird track. Weird layout , very narrow and pretty high speed. We all gotta race it , but to answer the question...NO , we don't have anything like that here.

I went to a 250 GP at Ernee many years ago and it looks like the same layout. It's a typical French hillside track and there's barely a single turn that isn't an off camber and even the straights are slanted from side to side. The downhills are scary fast and steep. Dense and stoney clay soil. Very technical especially in the wet as it was when I was there. My money's on Team France.

It's a great to watch at as you can see just about the whole track from a single POV.

Track lay out been changed quite a bit for this MXdN.
Lots of work done to make it wider.

Paulin, Febvre and Paturel will be riding overthere this afternoon, presenting the French team. I guess there will be taken pictures and filming, so we'll get a view on the "new" track.

Wake up everybody.

THIS IS how an MX track is supposed to be.

1. the riders are actually on the ground now and then so they can race against each other
2. the fans can SEE the action.

I was there when Ryno, RC and Pastrana showed up.

If you have ever sat on that hillside and had a chance to follow the action
and
then you go to almost ANY other track, you miss the degree of viewing this layout offers.

Same thing at St. Jean D'Angely....... I was there too

I don't even try to go back to tracks like Lommel or Valkensvard. The viewing is practically non existent - just remember seeing the backs of other fans just like the 76 National in New Orleans, I don't even remember seeing Hannah or Smith at all.

If this race is anything like how I play it on MXGP, I expect some close battles and a lot of crashing (and cursing, and broken controllers).

RC, Hughes and Pastrana raced at St.-Jean-d'Angély in 2000.
Ernée was in 2005 with RC, Windham and Tedesco. Best race and atmosphere I've ever witnessed in person.

this!
I don't care how the track looks like on paper (or on video) but the actual races that I have seen live have been incredibly good. Battles all over the track you didnt even know where to look at. Multiple lines everywhere as well
Plus this is the best venue for spectators I know - you're able to see almost all the track from one spot.

Dunlop and Pirelli are from Germany and Italy. Not sure which tires they race in the nationals

You know what? Thanks to R.V.'s adventures in G.P. land, all of these discussions are now civil, reasoned and free of boastful bravado. I say, thanks Ryan, it's possibly your finest legacy! ( at least off track Wink )

I'm just expecting the same levels of excitement and uncertainty the MXdN always brings....

Lol video i uploaded few years ago posted by OP awesome Woohoo
Those pictures with a sea of people during the mxon 2005 are unreal.

France has a strong team team though. But USA has a very good team also.
It should be a great weekend of racing that is for sure.

I think the place looks awesome.

The hillside road-jumps remind me of Saddleback and Carlsbad...

The Nay-Sayers are out of their heads: This is going to be an EPIC race.

I find Ernee to be one of most epic, historically significant mx tracks left in the world, and I will be there to experience it for myself .
