Your setup is amateur. I can tell your a mid-pack C rider just by looking at your trailer. You've probably got your training wheels hid in one of those cabinets so nobody in the pits thinks your a joke. I can tell you race the vet class, probably so you've got a better chance at getting a trophy with all 6 guys you race against. Your wife is probably really impressed by that 5th place participation trophy you bring home every other week from your local fair race. When you get fast enough to have a setup like mine, give me a ring.

I'm a big fan of the cargo trailer conversions. They are an order of magnitude more durable than an RV. You can't beat a 1 piece aluminum roof. Here is mine. I started out with a brand new Car Mate 7x16 that I special ordered with the RV/screen door, 1/2 inch plywood walls and 2 ceiling vents. I wanted 2 because I planned on installing an AC.

Fast Forward a few years and here is what it looks like today.

I custom built the base cabinets using 3/4 plywood. The upper cabinets, I got on clearance from Home Depot for like $25 each.

I bought the scissor jack couches off Craig's List for $60 each. I was going to keep one and resell the other but when I installed the first one I realized that laid out in the bed position, it came to the exact halfway point so I mounted the other and viola! I have a larger than king size bed.

Here are some pics of the AC install. I braced the roof with 2x4s (I painted them before final assembly) and then insulated it with Roxul. All that's left is to paint it.

Dang man i wish i could find scissor jack couches for $60 each ha ha

It was pure luck. My wife and kids were in Chicago visiting her parents and I was sitting home alone in my office on a Friday browsing through CL and I saw them pop up. They had no price so I immediately called the number and an older woman answered. She said that she was up from FL with her camper for the summer and was going home and she needed them gone before she left. Apparently her husband was wheelchair bound which is why they bought a toy hauler. It had a drop down queen over the pair of scissor jacks and they had no use for them so she removed them. She said that she tried to donate them to habitat for humanity but they wouldn't take them. I asked her what she wanted and she said "I don't know, 100, 120 for both?" I told her I would be there in 4 hours. I hoped in my truck and drove from the Boston Area to Schenectady, NY and gave her 120 and she even threw in 2 of the tables that press into the floor. It was my greatest score ever haha.

Sadly, you nailed it. All except for my wife being impressed. She's definitely not impressed by any of it. I should be pissed at you for calling me out but you were actually spot on. Truth really does hurt, I guess. LaughingLaughingSad

I have to admit, this Motovated me to build a second trailer. I have just started, and still have a ton of work to do.

I really want to mount my helmets like that but I afraid they will swing so much going down the road and ruin the liner or the bottom of them? Not seeing any of that?
I'm pretty sure the documentation that came with our 6D helmets said not to hang the helmet during storage because it will deform/deteriorate the rubber omni directional suspension device effectively ruining the helmet. Bouncing down the road would accelerate that problem imho.

Thanks for the heads up, I was totally unaware of that. I’ll look into it for sure.

I did. I made them years ago for a different set up. I just made them 7” longer for the new trailer. I like that I can have a clear floor when I get to the track.

5S and organization make me really happy to see. One of the tenants we get graded on for 5S is if a stranger to our building can find a specific tool... kinda like your family being able to grab a tool for you. Very cool. To this day I forget which drawer in my dad’s tool box has screwdrivers or wrenches etc and I used that box for 20 years.

Coincidentally, my garage is terribly unorganized Sad

Yes sir. I took that to mean hanging from the mouth guard but I think they mean hanging it from any position that puts a stress on the omni directional suspension bushings.

That’s how I read it too. The mouth guard is ok but they don’t want any pressure points on the eps. If that’s the case, it should be ok to hang by the mouth guard. I’ll call 6D in the next day or so just to confirm. I don’t want to guess when it comes to my head haha.

Decided to add an RV style latch for convenience. Was scary drilling a perfectly good door, but I’m happy with the results!

I just got a new 5' x 10' trailer and am planning to build it up a bit and am thinking that the 1st thing it needs is some type of waterproof covering on the floor.
For those of you that used an epoxy type of garage floor sealer - Did you apply it directly onto the original flooring or did you add a layer of plywood or particle board?

I applied directly to the plywood floor already in place.

Not much of anything yet, just purchased a 7x16 wedge nose Wells Cargo. Painted the walls, put e track all the way around, put a wheel chock in the front, did 3/4" osb toe kick around the bottom and wired for 110v shore power. Two roof vents are on their way to being put in just need some warmer weather. Prob do more to it but honestly i really like having a trailer and prob will be buying a new all aluminum to do it all over again.

Currently in the build process myself. What’s everyone using for lights? I’m trying to find a led strip that’s battery powered where I don’t have to run a generator or have the truck connected.
