Big fan, (not Dylan big) but Eli was in 10th with 17 minutes left in the St Louis main. So it took him 17 mins and AC last lap digger to get 4th. Podcasts called it a great ride. To me not Tomacian, with his bad starts.

18th to 4th in that crowd?
With some of the "road-blocks" that were up?
With the speed and capability at the level it is, this year?

Personally. I'm gonna continue to call him "Stealth Mode". Think of it has kinda like a Really Sneaky Beast Mode.

While we're here, I'll also accuse Eli of learning "patience".

You see the level of talent he came thru? He was 18th after the first turn.

Yep, he rode great!
It’s not 2006 where the guys can come from dead last to podium..

If you look at the Movers and Shakers you'll see that most riders improved only one position or lost positions. Almost no one gained more than one position unless they were at the back of the pack. I'd say Tomac crushed it.

The speed at which he progressed from 18th to 6th was impressive, then he stalled out a bit.

If Eli never wins the SX championship so be it. Knock out another outdoor C-ship and call it a career. Raise your kids , hang with family and dig where you're at. Do some hunting, whatever.

The SX championship is the pinnacle of the sport. MX titles are great but SX is why the OEM’s pay the big bucks. So I would think Kawasaki, Monster and Alpinestars will disagree with you. If he never wins one does anyone remember him in 5 years?

Fans still remember the other 3 in a row outdoor title winners. Long time ago.

Historically he has not managed his bad nights very well in the early rounds and has crushed the second half of the season. Hope that's what he's doing here.

I noticed he wasn't exactly precise in the rhythm sections at A1 and more noticeably in St. Louis. He was over jumping certain jumps and landing abruptly. Any word on his bike setup and if they're happy with it or searching?

His starts have always been the most confusing thing to watch. He CAN get a good start, but he doesn't have remotely any consistency on the starts. Makes you appreciate what Freise does and wonder what he does differently. At some point it's commitment to hold it open longer towards the first corner.

After first corner lol ...if it after first lap its a lot more impressive.
If he was 12 th after lap 1 , I would expect him to get least top 5 .

Hard charger award winner isn’t a good consolation when he’s not dominant. If he worked up to Barcia or Kenny and was knocking on their door then that would have been just meeting expectations. For Tomac at least.

By my own admission I am not a massive fan of Tomac, but I give kudos where it is deserved, the dude (when he is on) he freakish fast. I would be more of a fan if his consistency at 'being on' was more often than not.

You can bet your bottom dollar that he will wins more than his fair share of mains this season, just probably not the title, but happy to be proven wrong.

He was the same at A1 .. passed the guys who were just happy to make the main, and then didn't go anywhere. even got dropped off. Arm pump as a reason

And this week, to 11th or so after 1 lap and really went nowhere for a long time. He was right on AC, and AC just pulled away and made passes, and Eli didn't.. AC going down cost Osborne time, and Tomac, having finally got through Brayton,Mookie and Baggett, got a 2 place gift.

So 11th to 6th in a 20 min moto... nope, not impressive.

Nice invention of a new adverb to describe a ride, "Tomacian." I'm going to start using that.
Although, I'm a little hazy on the OP's original intent for pronunciation; is it "Toe-mack-i-an," or "Toe-may-she-an?" Smile

As the joker would say “You just don’t get it do you?”
The field is deep- no one is coming through the pack.
Tomac rode great to get up to 5th and then capitalised on AC mistake to get 4th!
The track wasn’t the easiest to pass on- ET3 had some different lines but they mostly just funneled into the same corner line.
ET3 needs to pick an inside gate and start top 5 from here on out if he wants a shot at this title. He can’t afford any more starts outside of top 10.
