That entire video is an instant classic! I LOVE it. Just leave it on loop at any corporate fundraising party.

You can tell this is not Evil Knievel since there were no spectators and he didn't bail as soon as it started to sketch.

I'm pretty sure it didn't end well for Eddie?
On 6 August 1996, Kidd was involved in a serious motorcycle accident while performing at the Bulldog Bash, held at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon. In comparison to some of his previous stunts, the jump Kidd made that day was relatively minor, comprising a jump of approximately 15 m (49 ft) across a drag strip. The relatively short landing area beyond the drag strip consisted of an uphill incline leading to the edge of a steep embankment. Although Kidd completed the jump and landed the bike upright on two wheels, his chin struck the petrol tank of his motorcycle and he was knocked unconscious. As a result, Kidd was unable to prevent himself and his bike from continuing up and over the 6 m (20 ft) embankment edge. Kidd sustained serious head and pelvic injuries in the resulting fall.[6] After the accident, doctors told Kidd's parents that it was possible he could be in a coma for up to 10 years. However, he regained consciousness within three months of the accident, but was left paralysed and with brain damage.[2]

Nope the rear brake tap started coming about in 86 and david bailey is credited with creating that technique.

I posted the video yesterday then the entire thread disappeared later.. thought I might have done something wrong with youtube? anyway..

I remember when Eddie Kidd out jumped Robbie Knievel on live TV in a head to head jump off, which was the first I had heard of him honestly. I love the movie jump clip, I need to watch that entire movie.. balls of steel!!

Sorry man. I didn't want the thread to turn into a Eddie Kidd roast, as has happened before when I post a thread of something that I think is cool.
Eddie has been through more than his fair share of hard luck, and I didn't want to be responsible for a hate train thread. I had to go to sleep, and didn't want to wake up to see some stupid comments, so I deleted it

I didn't know he was a James Bond stuntman.
It was cool that he did the charity work after his injury.

Side note, as a kid, my mates and I used to have some fun with Eddie Kidd Jump Challenge on the commodore 64. Landing that sucker wasn't easy!

I was stationed in England back in his heyday...Eddie was the shit. Big balls knows no country affiliation.

He is still around at shows and stuff in the UK , selling memorabilia and the like, but not in a good way.. The Long Marston jump was badly planned and executed, from what i recall, he flatlanded it and G'd out, and then Whiskied up the spectator bank. Jump angles were a bit shallow so the speed needed was too much for the distance he had to jump.
Think there might have been a wing issue too. He did some good stuff for back in the day, but he always used MX bikes where Kneivel used Harleys, which was just dumb.

That landing had to look pretty small on the approach, he nailed it, and wouldn't want to be any higher than that as it looks to be a flat landing. Probably the reason for the rear wheel first landing.
Not much room for error, that's for sure.
After saving the landing, he gets so close to the hay bales that he puts his right leg on top of them.

Miraculous.

LOL....legend, hero, big balls and bad ass who pulls lots of tail.....whatever! judging solely from this footie, I'd say his skills, and common sense are NOT up there with the best of the freestylers in this world.

Do you realize that you just put 'common sense ' and 'freestyle ' in the same sentence?

Ha ha, okay since it is trendy to 'recreate '(ha ha ha), previous stunts, I challenge any freestyle rider of your noble approval to reenact the bridge jump.
