How does everyone feel about the East / West shootout awarding points towards both East and West Championships?

Yup.

I'm pretty amped on it. It's always been fun to watch the 250 dudes come together in the end for pride but now that there are legit points at stake it should make for some quality racing.

I welcome to change... even if it is for no other reason than adding drama to the end of the series.

Couldn't agree more. Matthes brought up an awesome point. The 250 guys are going to have way more incentive now even being the final round.

I think its bullshit, its separate titles. Race each group then throw them together.

Its being done to fit the tv slot.

I dig it.

I think they should do it a couple times a year during the series as well. Hell, they are getting points toward a national number after all.

They used to do this...
There was also a Texas round where they would have a East meets West race.
Glad to see them doing it again....I always enjoyed those races.

I think they should run each coast as a 6 race sprint for each regional title and then the other 5 as a East/West shootout cup to determine the best 250 SX racer... Put up a truck and 100G for the winner or something, that would get them going...

It sucks for Webb or Stewart. For us behind the screen it should be awesome. I`ll reserve my judgment for after the race as I suspect a lot of point protection will be going on.

True, but in regards to getting into the main, the gate is twice as big in the outdoors

Wasn't Musquin a little mad about the fact that no one really tried his best in Vegas last year? I think it might be the most exciting round of this championship.

it would be cool to have a split start gate like monster cup and have east vs west come right at each other before making a hard turn and mixing together.

Are they splitting up the heats into east and west? Or are they just going by qualifying time? The reason I ask is if they do split it up by coast, a top guy in the championship could have a bad heat and not even qualify for the main.

Splitting. 1 east coast heat, 1 west coast heat, and 1 combined LCQ (9-9-4).

They use to give out a truck to the winner of the east/west shootout.
