Hearing his podium comments after the Las Vegas SX race I started thinking of him defending his mx title from last year. At least from his comments It seemed like he understands that mistakes have cost him the SX title the last 2 yrs..

I see him dominating the outdoors in 2018 & think the only rider who can beat ET3 is ET3..

I entered this thread and immediately felt a sense of déjà vu...ironically french origin and all! Smile It's a long long season, anything can happen. Possibly being out of the SX championship so early will benefit Eli going into the outdoors.

I have a feeling Marvin will keep him honest all season, if Tomac has a brain fart episode like has happened in the past, Marvin will be there to capitalize. I think both Eli and Marvin have learned from these last two seasons of SX and MX. I just hope to see Anderson and Barcia in the mix as well. Who else we have in 450 MX with an the speed for an outside shot? I honestly don’t think we are going to see the dominant Roczen again for a while. But I’ve been wrong before. I’d love to see a 5 way title fight.

We saw in SX he wasn't the same Roczen. He was doing great prior to the injury, don't get me wrong. He deserves so much credit for coming back after that horrific injury and doing as well as he did.

People act like Roczen was absolutely untouchable before the injury. He wasn't, and he certainly won't be when he comes back.

Tomac will be Tomac. He will win a bunch of races and look amazing some races then he will make mistakes and look human the others. If he can limit those bad races he should win the title. I hope Anderson can keep this consistent streak going and battle for the title.

I think Marvin is pissed, Anderson is satisfied and possibly looking at the Nationals as a victory lap, ET3 should have a quiet resolve.
I definitely see Marvin as the finesse rider vs Eli who ... well it's kind like of a gunfighter vs a fencer.
Both have their strong points and it's a matter of skill and luck on both sides.
Anderson can do this absolutely, he's definitely not a dark horse, he'll be consistent and just won't quit. He just learned an amazing lesson on how to race for a championship.
Bring it on.

So is everyone counting out Bagget? He just had his best SX season, and he's ALWAYS struggled indoors. Last year's outdoors... he started slow, raised his game... was the equal of Tomac mid-season, then got injured. I think he's the only one who passed Tomac for the lead last year. If he can stay healthy, I'd put him in the mix, too.

I LOVED watching those El Chupacabra charges in the 250's. Looking forward to some of that this year.

2012, one year before Tomac. If it weren't for his injury last year, he likely would have been champion. Looking forward to seeing some awesome battles this year

If Baggett stays healthy watch out he’s getting the hang of the 450.

No doubt ET is fast but Marvin has picked up quite a bit of speed during this SX season, hell, they're all lightning fast, so it's a game of staying on the bike and mechanicals.

Marvin’s good on a few tracks but Eli has him more than covered on most of them and seems to have enough speed to run Marvin down on damn near every track!! Either way I can’t wait till hangtown!!

ET is a beast indoors and out. He will be fast! Baggett is doing better inside than he ever has, but he is on another level completely outside. Marvin will be blazing fast, but will he be consistant? Barcia, I'm sure, feels like he has something to prove. And who knows what is going through Anderson's mind right now. He just did something pretty amazing, but hopefully hasn't lost the drive necessary to win outside. And, of course, there are others who will show flashes of speed. They're all ridiculously fast.

And then there's Roczen. I really hope he gets through the season in one piece. There's no denying his speed and talent!!

I remember Reed being on pace and sometimes faster than Carmichael inside, but when they got out side, he got demolished.

Any way you look at it, it should be an awesome season!!

I definitely would never ever bet on Eli for a title that’s for sure. His mental game is not where it needs to be for me to be comfortable making that bet.

Baggett has a great chance of winning the title. I expect him to come out swinging.
Roczen, Anderson, and Musquin too.
The dark horse is Barcia.
Eli will not get a free ride.

Tomac will repeat and defend his title but it will be a close one. And I thought Bagget was still having wrist struggles? Didn’t he talk about that two weeks ago? That will be hard to hide with 3 foot ruts and braking bumps.

Regardless of how you look at it, this season is going to be awesome. Doesn’t matter who wins.

Anderson's last 5 ( and only) outdoors finishes from 2017.

This surprised me a little bit. Maybe 21 is not as much in the conversation because he only did 5/12 rounds last year.

I think Tomac will take it with relative ease. Tomac's mental toughness may not be the best of all time but he has the outright speed IMO and he's done it once before already so I think that will take some of the pressure off in his head. He knows he can do it and I think he will do it again.

Baggett is only a year older than Tomac and was giving Tomac everything he could handle early in the outdoor season last year before hurting his thumb.

Time will tell, but there's no reason not to think that Baggett is a title contender this year.
