Not sure if this is all old/ known news but I thought some might still find it interesting.

Supercross’s anticipated EV class not ready for primetime in 2020

The AMA…is working on classes for the AMA Loretta Lynn’s championships for 2020, which is the national amateur MX series, the finals happen late summer, this is much more important racing wise,”

Misleading title. I was expecting that they finally revolutionized the performance system, skipped D-class (for obvious jokes it would lead to) and made E-class for the unsung heroes that fight for their survival from one corner to the next one again and again.

Hmm, seems as if KTM is backing up on their plan to have the Junior SX exhibition guys on e-bikes? Availability, perhaps some changes being made after prototype tests? This e-bike thing is a lot harder than it appears. It doesn't appear to be a rules issue just yet, nobody seems to have a bike that they are willing to put forward to even try yet. It would be nice to see a pro active rule, rather than a restrictive one. And the AMA being in charge of rules with Eric Kudla, that's funny. MX Sports and Feld own the rule books and AMA does what they say.

LL is a different beast with around 40 classes a few more won't hurt anything, but at the Pro level creating a different class would insure that e-bikes are DOA. E-bikes push the sport in a direction it should already be going, more shorter motos, IE Triple Crown. Just let Big Red finish their project and see how everything magically lines up.Grinning

Its a damn shame the AMA and FIM gave Alta Motors so much push back when they were trying to race supercross. Its one of couple of events in Alta's history that eventually screwed their company.

They should have been allowed to race on a 2 year provisional basis.

Once again $4k out the door, swap-able battery pack, extra battery included and then we can talk about the sx-e5. Seems like lorretta's has already conformed to ktm at the expense of ALTA. (Open class mind you, RIP)
