trying to sell a spark plug by saying it makes more power seems awfully gimmicky to me.

Friend of mine had those 4 prong plugs in his harley and it ran weird. I put regular NGK ones in it and it fixed the problem. Not sure on dirtbikes. Only NGK is sold near me.

They are just a spin on the 90s Splitfire plugs. I guess the patent ran out..

Anyone remember the NipponDenso plug ads from 1986? Do the E3 ads not sound the same?

Snake oil. A spark is a spark. Compressed fuel doesn’t take much to ignite. If they worked wonders then every OEM auto maker would have jumped on them YEARS ago... instead they spend millions of dollars on R&D to meet government emission and efficiency standards.

That’s being said the economist in me is happy this company dumps advertising money into our sport. Without sponsors there is no sport.

Sure does. Even add more horsepower too. Amazing.

Worst part about the gold APP. Listening to them talk about this after each qualifying session.

I tried them in a truck way back when they came out. Ran the same as OEM, which is better than some others. They're nothing special though. Dont think they lasted longer than OEM either.

An old racing buddy and I were at the Washougal national during the week leading up to the race. I think it was 1996. Ricky Carmichael's Splitfire Pro-Circuit KX125 was on the stand, although he didn't actually race his first pro race for another week or two. My friend and I noticed there was electrical tape over the spark plug, so he peeled it back to expose an NGK logo.

A few years prior to that, my dad bought us some of those Splitfire plugs for our bikes. The electrodes would fall off of them after a few hours and the bikes wouldn't re-start. I had one piston come with a couple of little dents from the electrode.

Years later, I hear Pingree's story about the running shoes and the NGK spark plug. They must have had the same problems with those plugs. Pure garbage.

I tried them also on a 125 and 250 that were jetted correctly.........I couldn't make them perform for more than 20 minutes and they would fail or foul.........I couldn't make them work for me at all......back to NGK b8egv's....

I still run the BR8ES in all my two strokes. Cheaper and I never noticed any performance loss compared to an "...EV or ...EG". OEM plug numbers are overpriced snake oil too.

A good friend of mine swears by them. He's an old slow guy like me (not quite as slow though) that loves to build bikes. He's always running them on a dyno at a known tuner's shop to track any performance gains from any of his changes or mods. They got things humming along nicely, switched to the 9 plug and the next dyno run picked up 2 hp.

They don’t work in the top fuel cars. All the teams that have tried them have struggled with dropping cylinders. Even the sponsored teams run the sticker but not the plug

Good observation! Those splitfire plugs were terrible, there is a reason they’re not around anymore

Horrible plugs. Don't know of its their qc. I've seen one of these plugs come apart just in a few miles after install on a car engine. Also another was no good out of the box. I'll stick to oem, ngk, or denso

E3 plugs are a gimmick. One FAT spark is much better than 3 small sparks. Run any alcohol or boosted application and you'll find out real fast.

That being said, You don't gain power from different plugs, you can only restore power by replacing degraded plugs. If you want a stronger ignition then you need a stronger coil.

I raced dirt late models for a while and we spent a lot of time on the dyno with our spec motors and e3 plugs were one of the things we tested. Never saw any hp or torque gains, and most of the time they were a couple numbers below a cheap autolite or acdelco plug, I understand this was a v8 engine but can’t really see them being any different when it comes to bikes. Just some food for thought

Sorry, but this is incorrect. I can't speak for E3, however OEMs and manufacturers do spend money testing spark plugs. I am an automotive test engineer and one of my buddies at work (who also rides, idk if he's on vital) is currently running testing on our spark rig. I don't know much about the test stand other than it uses an extremely high speed camera to capture the flame front. I'll try and learn more about it tomorrow.
OEMs spend LOTS of money to meet/exceed emission standards, and spark plugs are a part of this. Unfortunately all of our EPA testing is stalled at the moment until the orange guy can get his stupid wall. Luckily most of our testing is OEM stuff.
