I thought this was an interesting comment by Mrs. Reynard during the broadcast. While other guys are trying to decompress from their role of being a professional racers by playing golf or surfing, Dylan seems to be fully immersed in his job.

Anyone else have any thoughts or comments on his statement?

Yeah, He shouldn't be saying that. The other riders might hear about it. TongueGrinningWhistling

It's exciting to have a determined title less rookie with no kids hungry for a championship. Exciting indeed!

I think Dylan is riding well and I get that he is a "rookie" on a 450. But when you are 27 is it the same thing as Ryan Dungey winning on a 450 at 21?

Like I said I don't want to discredit his season at all, but he is the same age as Roczen.

He is at the same age but we can call him a late bloomer. He race against guys that are in the same age with multiple 250 and 450 titles. And now those guys have kids and what not.

If he were in the same spot as Roczen and Tomac i dont know if he would be at the same place mentally that he is now.

That's called laser focus. It's why he is where he is.

RD raced against a very depleted field in 10. He won the title by almost 200 points over mike alessi. DF14 is racing against the best that are out there, and working them. I’d put this rookie title over dungeys rookie 450 title all day

He should have fun by seeing if he can win on a yz250 after he wraps this thing up early.

Would be awesome, but sadly Yamaha 2 strokes aren't homologated in either class.

Who cares what age he is!!

A 450 title , assuming he wins it, is next level if you 18 or 38!!

I am not a DF fan. You can see he wants it more than the other guys by his riding style and body language.

You race who you race.

To me I dont look at DF as a rookie, he is one of the guys I expected to be competitive and going dor the championship.

If he were 19-21 i would be more impressed though. Not to downplay his results at all i just find it comical to call a 27 yr old a rookie. Usually by then you are a seasoned vet or retired.

Ferrandis is a beast. Having fun at wining is a polite way of saying that he hates loosing. RC4 mentally right there.

Dungey won the title by nearly 150 points over Metcalfe with Short right behind him.

I think this season by Dylan is more impressive as well but Dungey was 20 when he won his title. That counts for something. Dylan is a “rookie” but he’s also closer to 30 than 20. Hard to call him a rookie in the same vein as Dungey.

Had this changed since 2015?? I know Cody Gragg(RIP), raced a YZ250 2-stroke in several nationals that year, and I thought Stankdog raced a YZ125 a few times.

He was still down in EMX when Kenny won his MX2 title in his 3rd season. So yeah, age is not everything.

Exactly, cash all the checks you can, and then do all the fun stuff when you retire.

You’re right as hell, idk why I thought it was Alessi. Also, I don’t remember being a “rookie” at something being defined by age. First time racing that class = rookie. Take it how you want facts are a bitch

Yeah, it changed. I believe that's why Renzland is on a Husky this year.

That's just a paperwork snafu, like JS7 forgetting to put his TUE paperwork into WADA.
Just show up and ride the 2 smoke.

Dylan doesn’t want to ride a 2 Stroke, he had one and gave it away to DV 🤣
