Obviously he moves up to the 450 next year if he is crowned West Coast SX Champion. Where does he go? I see 3 options......

1) Yamaha - Does he replace Barcia or Plessinger
2) Honda - To Replace Brayton
3) Husky - Replace Anderson or Deano?

I’d say to KTM to replace Marv but I think he is still under contract for another year.

I don’t see Anderson going anywhere. And didn’t he sign some crazy long contract last year or the year before?

I think Yamaha would get rid of Plessinger before Barcia. Ando isn’t going anywhere. I would see him going to KTM replacing Marv, you can’t win a championship when you’re constantly on the sidelines. Speculation is stupid tho.

Plessinger is already signed to Yamaha for next year, Sexton is replacing Brayton, Anderson is still signed to Husky.

He will replace Pless. Didn't somebody say KTM is going for him also with a 3rd bike? You know KTM loves their Euro riders

Marv and Plessinger contracts run through 2021 afaik.
Sexton will ride 450 Honda until the end of 2023 (his contract was big), Roczen will probably retire on red aswell.
Could we really see another 3 man KTM roster in the US? They already afford Prado/Cairoli/Herlings in EU. Ferrandis/Webb/Musquin an option?

Gonna be interesting for sure how this will turn out.

how will he replace plessinger next year when ap7 still has a contract for 2021? Barcia is the one who runs out of a contract this year, would be between them.

I would think if Ferrandis is interested in Honda, they will find a way, but I forgot about Sexton. I don’t see Yamaha passing up Ferrandis to keep Plessinger.

Ando hasn’t sniffed a win but one time in two years, but of the 3 currently on the team, I’d keep him. As much as I love Deano, I think Ferrandis would have better results.

If his season is ended early will he actually earn enough points this year to make him move out of the 250 class?

He’d be crowned SX champ for 2 years in a row. You have to move up.

I think he'll go KTM. One year at RMATV or Tedder before eventually moving up to RB KTM.

Crap! Can you imagine Webb and Ferrandis being teammates...and competitors? The way Coop and Marvin banged into each other last year...it'll be a toss up which one will take out the other one first. DeCoster will have his hands full, that's for sure!

That said...KTM signing Ferrandis wouldn't surprise me a bit.

Not that it means much, but I’ve been to 3 SX rounds in the last 3 years and every round DV12 was hanging out at the KTM rig.

What about Factory GasGas with Dylan and Blake?

I don’t see Dylan singing with a brand new “unproven” race team. Sure it’s a KTM, but the team is still going to have growing pains.

DV was training and working Marv before the injury. DV is friends with those guys. Watch the Moto spy videos, you can see his interaction with them. That doesn't mean anything about DF. It may or may not happen with DF and KTM. I just take that as DV is friends with some of the gang at KTM.

Nonsense.
Proven bike
Same engine techs as RB KTM
Same suspension techs as RB KTM
They’ll employ proven spanner spinners
The whole thing overseen by Roger.
The only difference is the colour of the plastics and the semi.

It’ll be a breeze for them.

Spot on. I think those are the only options available. I wonder what push GasGas will do, maybe that will add 1 or 2 new factory rides. I think yamaha will sign Barcia, he was having a very good year. All the other teams have contracts with their riders, or a new (Savatgy) or a long (Wilson) good relationship with performing riders.

Factory Kawasaki

Factory Honda

Factory Yamaha

Factory KTM

2-Musquin

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM (GasGas?)

1-Baggett

I don't see Kawasaki letting Cianciarulo go.

I can see Dean Wilson moving over to the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Team to replace Bogle.

If Dean moves over to the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Team I can see the 3rd Husqvarna bike moving to the Red Bull KTM team for a 3rd rider (Ferrandis). Musquin has 1 year left on his contract and might call it a career after 2021.

I can also see Yamaha adding a 3rd rider to the team (Ferrandis or McElrath) if Barcia finishes 3rd.

Edit: Concerning the 3rd bike at Yamaha. I believe McElrath signed a 2 year deal and will point out of the 250 class.

Edit 2: McElrath is not pointing out of the 250 class.

?? Who’s the team manager? Who’s ordering parts? Who are the mechanics? No, it will not be a breeze. And the bike is only a KTM for one year. After that it’s going to be it’s own bike. Lots of stuff you haven’t thought of.

I like Dylan just not sure if he's must sign for these teams. He's on the older end of the spectrum, hasn't really been dominant (very good but not dominant) and let's say can be controversial. I think he needs to crush the outdoors to be " the guy" to hire. Who knows now what will happen this year.

2 SX West Championships (assuming he wins it) makes him "the guy" to hire.

Supercross holds a lot of weight. Not to mention, but he could very well add the outdoor championship to his resume after the summer is over.

Sexton is already signed.

Think we're seeing what is driving Barcia these days "If I don't finish top 3 am I out?".

And, to make matter worse for Yamaha, what if Barcia is in the top 3 or within striking distance, all the way to the end of MX season, after which most riders have already signed?

And that's assuming Barcia can't bring home a top 3 in SX.

I think we are on the same page just worded differently. Like you said "if" he wins the SX title and does well outdoors. I think this season is very important for his future as far as his worth, for a lack of a better word, to teams. Like I said with everything that is going on right now who knows what will happen. I'm a fan and think he will make racing better with him in the 450's. Just not sure teams are getting out blank checks for his agent, yet.

I would be blown away if Ferrandis goes to the BBMX team, no matter if they’re on KTMs or GasGas. He would be leaving TONS of $ on the table by giving up personal boot/helmet/gear income.

Also, given their rider history it’s pretty obvious that BBMX doesn’t have the funding for 2 premiere riders. From the outside looking in, seems Baggett gets the main ride and most of their salary budget and then they have a ”second tier” rider for much less $
