Dunlop to Provide Trackside Support at the
AMA Amatuer National Arenacross Championships
AURORA, Ill. (April 25, 2012) – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that Dunlop will provide trackside support for the 2012 AMA Amateur National Arenacross Championships on May 6 at Las Vegas’ South Point Casino, where the world’s top amateur arenacross racers will converge for a chance to take home the coveted AMA #1 plate.
Dunlop will provide access to a wide variety of arenacross/supercross-specific tires from their Geomax line up at the AMA Amateur National Arenacross Championships. Based out of Dunlop’s support rig, two full-time technicians will be on hand to assist riders with the same support that top Monster Energy Supercross racers like defending champion Ryan Villopoto and his teammate Jake Weimer receive.
“This is a huge benefit to the riders competing in this year’s AMA Amateur National Arenacross Championships,” said Mike Muye, Director of Arenacross, Feld Motor Sports. “Dunlop’s commitment to providing trackside support to the world’s top amateur riders further elevates the status of this prestigious race.”
“We are going to bring the same staff that service all the Monster Energy Supercross races to the 2012 AMA Amateur National Arenacross Championships,” said Brian Fleck, Manager – Off Road Technical, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires. “Our staff will be able to offer professional fitting service as well as suggestions for tire sizes, patterns and air pressures to ensure that each rider gets the best performance possible from their Dunlop tires in their attempt to win an AMA Amateur National Arenacross championship.”
For decades, Dunlop tires have set the pace in off-road racing, winning more than 117 national championships in the dirt. That includes every Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship and AMA Motocross title in 2010 and 2011. Throughout the 2012 AMA Arenacross Series, hundreds of riders of all ages and skill levels have been competing for a shot to win an AMA national title. Over the course of the 12 rounds that compose the AMA Arenacross Series, riders have qualified from one of five different regions – North, South, East, West and Central – at the Amateur Day races that took place every Sunday following professional action. In total, 540 of the nation’s fastest amateur competitors will converge on Las Vegas, with a total of 26 riders ultimately emerging as an AMA National Champion.
