Dunlop MX52's Any good?

My new CRF came with MX52's. I looked them up and they don't have great reviews. Should I take them off and sell them for something better before I use them? They are brand new but take offs.

Was thinking of trying the 403/404. I used to use 756 for anything other than baked hardpack and loved them.

Is there a tire that covers it all like the 756 did or close to it?

Are the 203 and 204 any good? Id say my riding is intermediate to soft/loam to sand. No real deal hard pack really.

They suck.

MX3S are what I've been running everywhere for the past year. Awesome tires.

Back is so so. Mx3s is better. Both wear out basically equally as fast as far as I am concerned. Haven't tried the front. Love the front mx3s. It chunks the sideknob faster than any other tire though........

I also believe that the front 203 is damn good. Buddy with a kx swears by them, and his bike does push less than most kawis I have ridden.

I currently have a 756 on my yz450 in the back, scored from a buddy who bought and never used. Love it. Mx3s closest I have gotten to same feeling. I put the 756 on the rear of the yzf two rides ago, and it is def better than a mx3s rear. The mx3s front is a night and day difference on the yzf compared to mx51 mx52 and mx31 I tried before. Mx3s was a huge improvement over the 31. I ride hardpack with gravel and also large rocks quite a bit.

x2 on the MX3S

Probably never would've tried them but my Son won some in a race so I put them on the bike and he loves them.

I'm not a fan at all. Go with the MX3s or Pirelli MX32.

I still haven't tried any of the Michelin Strarcross 5 tires, and probably wont since i get a good deal on the Pirellis from my dealer.

X2.

Just rode with the Starcross 5 medium front and love it, Id say its damn close to the Bridgestone M59 front tire that I have ran for years and years.

The Starcross 5 medium rear is by far my favorite and lasts a long time. 20+ hours on my rear.

Been running X30 Bridgestones and they are ok on medium tracks. What i have found of them they are different profiles than other tyres and more on big on size. So running X30 rear and Michelin front feels like tractor and whole balance of bike is off. Loved old MS3 Michelin but new Star5 softs or mediums didn't really give any grip at track we run. So like said Dunlop S3 or Pirelli 32 if you are medium to soft tracks. Dry blue groove track Pirelli Extra is only one that last more than 5 hours.

Just run them until it's time to replace. 90% of riders aren't good enough to justify replacing brand new tires.

I use the Bridgestone X30 front and X40 rear and love them. Will buy again.
Used to use Dunlops, but they tend to lose the knobs quite quick.

The mx52 rear isn't that bad. The front is garbage.
If you want to cut the cost, just switch the front to the mx3s and you'll most likely be happy.
Change both, I'd buy the Starcross 5 mediums.

Agree, I'm a fan of Michelin. Loved the MH3. Are StarCross 5 as good?

Yes, I was a huge MH3 fan. I run Starcross 5 mediums all around and love them. The SC5 soft terrain front is, I'm told by my friends, also very good.

Maybe try the tires your bike came with yourself and then make your own judgement?

Mx52 rear isn't bad but the front sucks. I've been running the 203/204 combo for awhile and love it. Haven't tried the mx3s yet because I've heard how quickly they chunk/wear out. The Bridgestones last longer too

We have been running the 3s or 32 for the last few years, they (Dunlop) recently ran out of 3s's so I grabbed a set of 52's. We ran a practice day at Milestone then the next day at Cahuilla, my son actually said that the 52 felt really good on both tracks. He was especially pleased at Milestone, he said the sidewall traction was much better on the hardpack and noticeable. We keep them fresh, so it wasn't about coming off a bald one and riding a new tire, he always has freshies!

I actually liked the mx 52 rear I had. It was easier to break traction and use a little wheel spin to steer the back around whereas the 32 (MS3S as it's now called) would hook in and lift the front. If you have a 52 front and back, I'd swap just the front for a 3S and see how she feels, then go to the 3S in the back of you don't get the drive you're looking for.

half the punks who say 'x' tyre is junk wouldn't even be able to tell if they had a puncture, let alone be able to tell a Bridgestone from a Dunlop!

Don't over think it. The MX52s are perfectly fine. The front will be better on harder/drier tracks than soft, the rear will be good everywhere.

If you already have them just run them. When its time for new stuff then get MX3S

Hmm, I going off our experience and the word of a PRO that qualified for a national last year. Not sure who you are calling a punk...

MX52's are decent if you ride hard packed. Here we are 80% loam or sand. 52's are way to hard...

The 32's do wear quickly, especially at lower psi.

I had a GNCC guy tell me he doesn't like them, he called them one and done....

Disagree. I rode my friends 17 YZ250 back to back with my 13 last weekend. Mine had new MX3S and his had MX52 and the bike was out for its first time. Track was hard pack and dusty in most areas. The MX3S worked way better everywhere. The front has a much more planted feel in corners and the back actually gets traction instead of spinning up when you twist the throttle.

Not everyone who replies here is talking out their ass.

MX52's any good? Not in Florida. Other than that, I can't really say.
