To retire at 27 is quite a deal, especially if you are planning to start a family, put kids through school and live a life of leisure, travel and be comfortable (while taking inflation and everything else into account.)
I'm sure Ryan will maybe get paid in a few years, possibly helping out a team of doing commentary etc.
Can anyone hazard a guess on what his net worth could be, after all the championships and win bonuses? Is it Carmicheal or Reed wealth, or do you think he will have to actively look for a paying job again? He has never been a flashy guy with the JS7 cars or big houses but then again neither was RV2.
Understand this is all speculation, but being such a level headed guy I can't see Ryan retiring unless he knew he was set for life financially, especially if he was offered a big deal to race '18 indoors and declined. He must be sitting on Scrooge McDuck money. At least - that is my guess. In any case, I'm happy for him - earned every penny!

The Shop
I'd bet he has closer to between $25-$30 million.
27 is far from prime years for a pro SX/MX racer.
How much money do you plan on having in the bank when you retire?
Yes they get paid for heat wins too, around 5k, again it depends on who much pull you have.
Pit Row
A guy like him will definitely start some sort of business, or continue to work in a capacity where his life isn't on the line.
I think given that Dungey has arguably more competition he probably wouldn't get as much from KTM/Red Bull/Fox. He is a top tier rider so that comes with a premium but throw in a deeper talent pool I don't think you can get as much money up front...on the flip side of that I think win bonuses are probably higher. Also I don't see Dungey as being the guy with a snarky agent trying to bleed as may dollars as he can, he probably went after good but fair contracts even in his prime earning years.
I'm 100% sure Dungey's net worth is derived from making smart investments not saving his pennies (however I'm sure he did a good job of that).
I have a very strong feeling Ryan Dungey is NOT one of those guys. In fact, quite the opposite.
Hasn't spent much on houses or vehicles, relatively speaking. He could have been feeding a gambling addiction and meth habit this whole time and still be sitting on at least 15 million. Spread throughout a few boring mutual funds that will return more than enough to live extremely comfortable.
