Seeing as how there are 7 races left and Tomac has to make up 17 points to win the Championship (assuming he wins more races than Dungey), I was curious to see how many points Tomac has made up on Dungey over the last 7 races so I did a little digging.
After Anaheim 2, Dungey had 69 points and Tomac had 44 - a 25 point difference. 7 races later, after Daytona the points sit at 214 for Dungey and 197 for Tomac - a 17 point difference. That means Tomac has only made up 8 points on Dungey over the last 7 rounds. Granted, if you throw out Tomac's 15th place finish in Arlington, he probably would have made up way more points than he has.
Tomac definitely has a solid chance of gaining the 17 points on Dungey over the next 7 races but given Dungey's consistency my money is still on him for the title.

All we can do is watch wait and see. I think the points favor Dungey for more reasons than the obvious. Tomac has no margin for error, and Dungey has a few races to get his shit together. Dungey wasn't happy with his last performance and I believe he will come back out swinging this weekend. Tomac has the pressure to win EVERY RACE while Dungey can take a lot of seconds, and a few wins and lock it up again.
1. Front brake broke
2. Bad start + tight track still got up to second place.
I think Eli is defiantly hungry enough to take this championship.

Can Dungey win this title? Yes!
Who will win this title? No one knows!
That right there is the best part!
Just for fun here is a little graphic of the points gap.
If Tomac wins every race out, he wins.
Actually beating Eli straight up would be ideal for him as well
The outcome will depend a lot on the starts and the track possibilities to pass. Tomac is faster right now and can as much get tie in 3 races as getting a bad start while Dungey holeshot and get a 10 seconds lead. Over 7 races, i think at least 1 race will be like that for both so the championship should be really tight!
Seely will be the champ.
Or if Musquin wins out and Dungey finshes 5th on average and Tomac finishes 3rd on average and Seely finishes 2nd on average. Then Musquin will be the champ.
Or if Anderson wins out and Dungey finishes 7th on average and tomac finishes 5th on average and Seely finishes 3rd on average and Musquin finishes 2nd on average. Then Anderson will be the champ.
And if Alessi wins out and Dungey/Tomac/Seely/Musquin/Anderson/Millsaps/Reed/Bagget/Wilson/Tickle/Grant/Brayton/Webb all DNF the series then Alessi is the Champ! Mike Alessi 2017 Supercross Champ Guys!!! Who knew it was possible!!!
(ok ok - I only play a scientist on tv...)
We'll all see truth soon enough. I for one am really enjoying this contest.
I will take those odds!
