First time at the line:
Helmet: Sears & Roebuck (metalflake blue)
Goggles: What goggles?
Jersey: Gray sweatshirt
Pants: Levi's denims
Boots: Red Wing work boots
Gloves: Cowhide work gloves

This was Michigan in 1974 so several others on that gate were similarly splendiferous, sartorially speaking....

Rubber band start.
250 amateur class on a '74 MX175 Yamaha. This is in late '77, there were no A, B, C, D, classes then. Just Pro's and Am's. I was 16 years old. My buddy rode with me to the track in Elkin, NC in my uncle's truck. Lied about my age at the sign up trailer and away we go. Lifetime friendships. The greatest memories.
I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday but, I remember EVERYTHING about that day.

They only made bicycles and mopeds at the time, this bike is a one off made after hours by one of the engineers. It is a 50cc Sachs engine and the bike made for ISDT enduro competition. The next year in 1967 is when KTM manufactured John Penton's design of the Steel Tanker.
