...wow, just wow. His SX season, now he is burning it outdoors. That kid is only going to get better...Reed is discovering that right now...word to Villopoto and Stewart.

Dungey is like a friggin machine right now. It looks like he left all his consistency issues back on the 250... Gonna be hard to beat for sure.

You mean that guy that "lucked out" in those championships??.....Tongue He's looking strong!

Hope he doesn't get too confident...come SX season again, he'll have to deal with the fastest man on two wheels again(when he stays on 2 wheels)...and everybody knows who that is. (AND Villopoto)..it'll be great racing then!

didn't I say that last year??.........

He looks better on a 450 than he did on a 250. He's one of those guys who's smart enough to use power to help him ride instead of trying to wrestle the thing all the time.

Kid definately has grit. We will never know, but I wonder how he would have turned out without being under the wing of RD and tutored my RC? I mean, would he be the same kid if he happened to ride for Mitch or the FC team? Great find for sure for Roger, he definately picked the right kid after all.

The guy is a total machine. He just clicks of 35 min worth of laps that are all within a couple seconds of each other from lap 2 through the end. He never rides out of his comfort level and looks smooth as hell while doing it. It;'s really incredible. I understand that JS and RV aren't there and if they were they'd test his comfort level but the fact that he can smoke the guys out there riding at what looks like 85-90% is incredible. In that sec moto today he just stayed steady , never really pushed and just seemed to know he'd lose Chad about the 15-20 min mark and he did.

The lap times below tell the story. Loud and clear, As you can see lap 11 was the last lap CR thought he had a chance. On lap 12 Dungey broke Reedy and made him settle for 2nd. It's amazing what RD did from lap 4 thru 10. You know there were laps in there where CR was thinking to himself "damn I'm hauling ass. Why isn't that machine in front of me getting any closer". Times like today has got to cause CR to have RC flash backs too.

Kinda how I see it......and Reed looked like he would agree in his post race......c'ept he didn't know what to say.

Sad news for everyone is that Dungey has a good shot at doing this for the next 5 years. Pourcel is starting to fatigue or lose interest, not sure which just yet.

Jmar..You know what he means. Well i hope you do. There's guys that put everything into every lap of every moto win or lose like Dungey.. And then there's the paycheck collectors of the world like Milsaps. Look at how RV mentally broke just about everyone in the lites class minus a few people. Then there was Dungey. Dungey got spanked by him for 2 years but wasn't going to give up and because of that he actually beat RV straight up a couple times in the end of 08.

Not sure what you mean about Pourcel, he's been doing exactly what he needs to for the championship. If he's in a position to win, then he goes and wins. If not, then he settles for a consistent finish. There have been 4 different winners this season, but Pourcel is sitting up top with a comfortable points lead... That's no accident.

There is only one winner and nothing can ever change that in our sport. I really get tired of people on these boards that don't seem to understand that.

If there is one thing that I would like to see on these boards it would be the ability to see all these (second is the first loser) types, for what they are. What do they do for a living, and are they one of the top people in their profession in the country. Are they over weight? Are they in good shape? Can they even compete at the local level?
There are really a lot of top notch experts here on Vital.

Honestly Dan. Why in the fuck does someone need to start all the (these guys are pussies) bullshit, in a thread that is basically giving Dungey some well deserved props?

He has been taught well, and he is very professional when it comes to public relations.

X2 Jim...even if some of the guys who made the show are not riding to their full potential...they earned the right to be there via qualifying. Nuff said.

I lol'ed.

Most of the people who criticize riders on here wont even post a picture of themselves sitting on a bike, much less riding one.

His performance in that 2nd moto blew me away. You could see it mentally devastated Reed's confidence during that podium interview. If Chad Reed bounces back I'll be surprised.

Jmar I agree. Seems like those are the only posts that get all the comments that's for damn sure. I posted two threads today about how cool the racing has been in the 250 class and 0 comments. If Joe-euro posts America sucks there's 40 pages..That's the biggest draw back to this place but I guess it is what it is.

Back on the subject of this thread. I was just re-watching the 450 race and it's incredible how much confidence Dungey has right now. In all his years of winning races in the lights he never looked like he does right now on the track. It's so RC'esq right now the way he knows he should be in the lead and just gets there. You can tell he's so confident with where he's at mentally ,speed wise and physically.
Dungeys style of winning races is perfect too. Where a Stewart will just attack and try and gap (JS doesn't want anyone to even lead 1 lap)everyone the first 10-15 min then just ride it in from there. Dungey like RC just finds a pace he knows will get him to the checkered flag first and runs exactly that pace til they give up or when the race is over. The last 3 weeks that seemingly easily managed pace he's running has been enough to make the field quit 20-25 min into every moto. Somebody better step up or he's going to be hard to stop. Sure RV and JS both may have been way faster then him before this SX and MX season started but the confidence Dungey is stock piling is going to be hard to beat when they get back.

When Reed has had to race for it he always fails. Dungey showed Reed where the bear shits in the woods yesterday and in turn Reed will settle from here on out. The only person that can beat Dungey for this outdoor title is Dungey. Reed proved he does not have the Will,Fight or Speed to beat Dungey.

I am sure it is no surprise to Dungey. Stewart and RC have been exposing Reed since 2002

Three incredible posts, back to back!
I loved the, "Where the bear shits in the woods."

Dungey definitely wants it more, and he broke Reed down yesterday for sure. I'd be surprised if Reed can rebound after that. If I were Reed, I probably wouldn't have much fire left either at his age, and with a kid and what not.

You guys are acting like Reed is a rookie who's mentally beaten after one race. The guy has been around forever, and one thing he doesn't do is stop believing he can win. Now, I think Dungey will take the championship unless he screws up, but Reed will find the speed he needs at some point.

Ummmmm, he needed it yesterday and to be honest with you I don't think he will find more speed later on. In that second moto it looked like Dungey broke him. I hate to say that, but he had 25 seconds on him and the guys behind him were closing. I think that he stopped pushing. That's just MHO.

I think Reed knew how important yesterday was as well......More than anyone else on this board for sure. But he had a day where he just Physically and Mentally couldn't get it done. He rode extremely well and made it back to the truck in one piece.

It's a long series , so i wouldn't go and count Reed out just yet. He's been proven to be a title contender just about every single year he's raced.

He didn't win yesterday.....but neither did the other 38 guys.
