Been a mx guy most of my life. Kids and all. Duel sporting now on a KLX 250, after DR. I like the bike, fits my age,but could use a little more power. So I called about a big bore kit from Bill Blue. A 351 kit. Over 500 bucks.. The bike already has a full pro circuit and all the mods for off road.Should I go for it? Wife says no,kids say yes..Help me make a choice..
300 XC will be my next bike, but I'm tall and fat.

A few years back a friend of mine had a 2005 YZ250F with a big bore kit (I think it was a 290cc) while another friend had a new stock 2008 YZ250F. I rode both bikes back to back and was amazed how much faster that old 2005 was. He had a pipe, cams, the big bore and of course proper jetting and gearing.
Unless you're really hung up on the weight (dual sports are crazy heavy anyway) you could probably upgrade to a 450F and have a far more reliable bike with a lot more time between rebuilds and a stronger clutch, transmission, etc.
I would bet you can spend the big-bore money on a 450F to make it weigh less than a stock 250F dual sport.
Regarding DUEL VS DUAL... This is Duel:
