Droolin' over this 500...

Edited Date/Time 11/24/2013 7:21pm
I have got to say, this is one of the most beautiful 500's I've ever seen. Usually whenever I see a KX500, the plastics are faded or it's all ratted out, but this, this is beautiful. Almost like the 1986 CR250 in the other thread that is barely touched.
This is one nice bike.

Since its been rode, it kind of loses the nostalgic collectors value but it looks like it still has its warning stickers.
I would say if you could pick it for 6 and just want to hang it in the garage. Fair deal.

A $12,000.00 BBR 50 would be a much better investment.

i can see him pulling that kinda money on it. don't blame the guy for putting it out there for that...those 500's have a lot of draw/uses...not just mx. Ice racing guys around here eat up kx500's like candy.

Sweet bike, but it is a little steep. It would be nice with a flywheel weight on it.

Very nice bike, but way too steep. And comparing it to a brand new ktm 300? I think the technology has changed slightly in the last 10 yrs.

Clean bike, but way too much IMO. I could see him getting maybe 4k at the most; and that's if the person that buys it is REALLY attached to the 500's...think I'd rather get a older used CR/KX 500 and clean it up real good (Top end, go thru the suspension linkage, service suspension, paint the frame, new plastics, etc...) for a weekend rider. Just my two cents.

It has, but for the KX500 it hasn't changed in the last 20. Those 80s chic side panels give it away. If I remember correctly the KX500s last real update was circa '88-90. I would love to have that bike, but unless I had an unlimited budget I would never pay that price for it. I would consider $4500 absolutely fair (I can't believe I just typed that number in regarding a used two-stroke, but whatever, it feels right).

My buddy raced one in two-stroke at one of the local races. He didn't even get the hole shot!

I've always thought the KX500 was one of the ugliest bikes ever. No way I'd give that for it.

I love KX500s, as my dad has two of them...an 87 and a 2001. That KX500 that was sold on ebay wasn't one of the good looking ones(that and the 96 purple nightmare).

500s are a blast to ride. Yes they are older technology and you do feel it when riding, but the power they put out is much more fun than my 450F anyday!

Rode one of those back in the day. I'd rather have the KX.

Well, if we're talkin about 6k bikes, here's one I would buy if I had the money, probably over the KX for the nostalgia.
