Those were some great races, DD was flying on that thing. He seemed to be the only one that could get a little breathing room when out front. The carbon fiber bits on that bike are trick, bike envy! LOL

Wonder how many times DD backed the throttle down from WFO during that race. My opinion is: never. Smile

Also...wonder if there were any big bore 100's on that line?

Great stuff!

That was great. He was hauling, but Chad and Coop and the boys stayed close. The vid of him knocking down Burner (yeah, yeah, yeah. Just clean racing. Blah, blah, blah) on Sunday is in the other DD thread.

I will post moto 3 in a day or two. That one is awesome as well. There is more than just that ten second clip that is on face book. You will see that he just held it on a little longer than everyone else. Woohoo

Hey Deek:

DD's engine sounded way more stout than Gibson's.

Gibson's sounded peaky & top end oriented whereas DD's had a throaty muscular tone. What kind/how much magic was used?

BTW, Gibson is a super nice guy. I raced against him at DD's in 2011. Hung out with him some of the weekend. First class laid back dude. Great form on an moto scooter

Gibsons motor was the 2012 version that i built. Dubachs and Mike Beier's was the 2013 when i found the magic combo. They all run great but the motor on Dougs was when I got that combo right and you knew that at first kick. If any one wants to tear it down, Get me a six pack of Sculpin IPA I will bring My Calipers. Dougs bike is still on a stock bore. Got a lot of overbores left. 7th fastest lap time at A day in the dirt out of 168 riders. Many on open 500s and late 80s post vintage stuff. That was at Glen Helen. Doesnt it sound good. Gibson is definately a cool dude. He worked at our shop for a bit. He got too busy with his school. If you need a good school give him a shout. http://www.jgmxt.com/

Stepho Thanks for loading up Doud's Pro Go. History was made at DD's with all the trick 100's machines. The racing was so intence with people screaming and yelling like the old days, Gibson, Parker, Cooper, Burnworth, Jones, Dubach and Cody Tomas were unreal. Racers so close to each other and me wondering how they didn't touch each other more.
If you want to see the race of a lifetime , come out and see one of our races. Marty Tripes 100cc Works Reevenge.

Can't wait to see the rest of the clips to come Stepho. Marty Tripes

Dubach is booking as usual.

With all due respect to all involved, is it really fair for someone with such skill and speed to compete with amateur racers at LL?

This video is proof that speed does not go away once a racer retires from professional competition.

Dubach and all retired pro racers should we welcomed to race at LL, but in order to maintain a level playing field they should have their own class. A legends class would be a home run for all involved.

Coops bike is 100% stock other than a 428 sprocket conversion. Even running the stock steal bars.

On another note this race was a perfect example of how modern motocross has it all wrong. I can't remember the last time I've seen racing this good. The fence lines were packed with cheering fans, and at times it looked like there was 5 guys that had a shot of winning the moto. Saturday night I went back to my hotel and watched Supercross, I was completely underwhelmed after watching the Marty Tripes races. The class that isn't even an AHRMA class is by far the highlight of the weekend. Awesome idea by mr. Tripes.

Bitchin!

That pass was awesome!

Awesome! Except for the track. There was no doubles and triples and quads and such. That looked like a real MX track. Nobody likes those anymore.

Note: All the above, with the exception of "Awesome!" was utter sarcasm.

Did anyone else watch that video and immediately search Craigslist for "100"? That race blended the intensity of big bikes with the fun of minis. Was that track custom-built for this race?

Question: who owns and rides a KX 100? While they don't have that vintage feel, they are widely available and have suspension capable of supporting an adult.

No, I just went ahead and purchased 2 of them at the race!

I did the same thing. It looks like a lot of fun. I also wondered about the KX100 as a chassis, but it looks like it wouldn't comply with the spirit or letter of the laws. The frame rules posted above are a little weird: No frame made after 1983...but you can build your own? Outside of time travel, I don't see how option B would really work.
