Gnarly crash. I hope he recovers back to 100% after that!

Looks like something happened with the triple trees or wheel.....anything broken on the front end of the bike?

The bad thing about a wreck like that is that you have SOOOOO much time to think about what is going to happen!

I was standing right there when it happened, and it was awful. He oj'd it by a mile and his front wheel just exploded.

The above image is what the wheel did to the ground, and the second is self explanatory.

That looked so ugly...landing into the face and the bike chasing him down.

I thought it was WFO even on a 450f?

I wish they had a longer landing on that sucker... It's kinda short for the speed.

I'd bet something had already weakened that wheel and this jump was the last big hit it could take.

What's doing having a jump that big with such a short landing zone, into another steep rise?!

You don't put a wall in a crash zone with no run off...

This isn't the 1st time they have run the triple step up at a National, heck the GP riders were doing it a few years ago... plus last week (Thursday) they had a open practice for all AMA pros for input and GH made adjustments. By the end of the second session today, most of the riders were starting to pitch it sideways. Justin Bogle really looked like he was having fun, as was Grant.

This image of KR94 was the jump before the triple step up, the Hip Jump they are calling it. Photo by DC off his FB page

it's a stupid jump , very impressive but stupid, for some reason Jody seems to enjoy turning this race into a meat grinder

He needs to go up a tooth on the rear sprocket. He'll get 'er done next timeDizzy

Hope he is alive. That was gnarly & painful to watch. Get well soon man!

That front wheel exploding probably softened the landing a touch.

Needs to be bigger so less guys try it. Or less of a run.

Larocco's Leap and Fly150 only a few guys jump each year. Everyone in the pack will be 4th gear launching that jump.

Mechanics make sure your spokes are tight.

Yeah we've seen it before but i'm almost positive the landing zone was longer, flatter and had more run off before what is essentially a face... He'd have gotten away with it with maybe one of those three factors included....

Not to be a dick, but imo these jumps are getting way to big.. Last week's 150 jump was cool, as not everyone was doing it. But this week you just have to jump it, otherwise you've got 39 other riders jumping in your neck. Is it really neccesary to have a serious accident with riders colliding mid-air on 5th gear pinned jumps before they will start thinking about it?

Hannah's been saying this since 1978.
