Does anyone else notice details in slow motion videos?

So I had a random curiosity pop in as more of the outdoor season goodness rolls in:

In slow motion videos of coverage, do you ever geek out or tunnel vision into focusing on something about the bike or rider?

I was starting to notice how much I pay attention to suspension when I see videos of corner entry and exit. Or really through any chop. It just looks so majestic seeing a supple action going through anything without any deviation in the chassis. I notice that on trophy trucks to.

It’s pretty mesmerizing tbh.

Random moto thought, carry on.

If slow mo stops the crappy sound tracks or mute the god awful 4 Stoke sound, I find my self laser focused.Silly

Absolutely Yeti831 !

You see so much with slow motion, especially the ultra high speed cameras that they can use nowadays.

A few years ago they used several ultra fast capture, 'super doopa definition' video cameras ( can't recall the real name / type of camera ) at the Isle Of Man TT. It was just mind boggling to see the detail - tyres rippling, forks and chassis components flexing and on and on.

To see that level of detail in Motocross and Supercross would be fantastic, for we Moto Engineering Geeks. But, the equipment is very expensive.

And yes, the same thing applies to the Trucks and Buggies in Off Road / Desert. I liken them to spiders and their legs, with their monumental mounts of travel, with wheels etc going all over the place. I'm not a 4 wheel bloke, but I find those things and their workings fascinating.

This is why I love Team Fried videos so much. I totally geek out on watching body position and bike reactions in those videos. That's why I've been smoking memory cards on my GoPro filming at 240fps so I can use slow mo in my videos. Heavily inspired by Tommy and Team Fried over this! Its really cool to watch and actually be able to see what's going on.

Loads of the slow-mo vids that are on my timeline get skipped. I could care less to see a slow motion whip off a steel ramp. Doesn't help that I have the attention span of a gold fish either.

Slow motion of a whooped out straight is one of the first things I think of as beauty in our sport. Rider position adjustments and suspension are what I focus on and it’s mesmerizing! I watch videos of myself and my son to see the intricacies that are missed at full speed.

After a 12 pack of Coors light I'm able to see regular speed videos in slow motion. It's clearly a gift I have,. and it seems to be getting stronger since my wife left me and I lost my job. It seems like the Coors light is a precursor to all these wonderful revelations and ESP episodes. So in my mind God has appeared directly to me, but not in the form of a burning bush but rather a shiny 16oz sliver bullet.

I like slow motion clips when it's someone doing something really technical, but when every moto clip on Instagram is in slow mo it's pretty frustrating when you just want to see the clip full-speed Laughing

Same here. If I wanted to watch a dirtbike go slow, I’d watch footage of myself.

I totally zone in on suspension.. The way Eli's bike worked in supercross and Chad Reed's 2011 Honda during the outdoors - the forks worked amazing. I always liked when they showed riders going through the whoops in slow motion. You could watch the fork and several other parts flex. Pretty incredible stuff.
