dry out your fork seals, potentially causing them to leak? I have a 13' kx250f and take immaculate care of it. Washing, maintenance, you name it. I also have a 2008 Drz400sm and they are both in excellent condition. The only difference between the two is when I wash them. I do not us simple green on the DRZ. After 32.2 hours on the KX and 1800 on the SM my fork seals are leaking on the kx. My friend and I were in the garage tonight and he thinks my 50/50 simple green/water mix causes my fork seals to leak, I think its just because it has 32 hours of time on it and its just from normal use. Whats your guys opinions/knowledge on this? At any rate, just striped the suspension for a trip to Factory Connection Wink

You mix simple green at 1:1 with water? That's a lot of simple green, man. They love you, keep doing that

All his zinc plated hardware probably doesn't like him though.

A gallon of Multi Surface Mr. Clean is around $5 at Home Depot, pick up a good squirt bottle while you're at it. Hose off your bike as best as you can, then after most of the water has run off, hit your entire bike with the M/S Mr. Clean, I don't dilute it, but you can if you want. It really get's the stains left behind by dirt and sand, especially on your tires. I was a Simple Green user for years, but Mr. Clean kicks ass compared to Simple Green, thanks to a heads up from a buddy and that buddies brother works for Simple Green and he doesn't even use it when he gets it for free!!

Simple green will make rubber softer and swell a little bit. When I raced R/C off road we would put all the simple green on the tires as we could to make them sticky for hard packed tracks. Yes you could feel a the difference between a tire soaked with simple green and one that was not. So if it would do it to the rubber R/C car tires, I would say it could mess with your fork seals.

Maybe the water swelled the tires?

I was going to say this exact same thing. Simple Green on RC tires is possibly the most common habit at the track. It cleans, and softens the rubber, it doesn't dry out rubber like other products which is why it is so widely used. Another vote here for there being no chance simple green has harmed your fork seals.

I would say it isn't the simple green, especially because you won't be spraying it on you fork seals directly (dust seals maybe, but not fork seals). Unless you are jumping up and down on your bike while you wash it.

Most likely it is the common fork seal culprit (dirt). Usually happens to me if some dries on the forks between motos which helps it make it up past the dust seal.

yup +2.

Used simple green on my RC tires all the time. No sign of drying out.

Are CRF and KXF air forks notoriously known for leaky seals?
