As the title states--- I'm recovering from left shoulder surgery (8 screws, etc) that I needed from dislocating it 3 times in the past 18 mos of racing . As I've been rehabbing, I had been reminiscing about all my major crashes over the years . (I'm 60 now, but raced from 1973-1980 and then took a 35 year hiatus and just started racing again in 2016.) Anyway, I've realized that a disproportionate ( 90%)of my hard crashes occur on my left side. Meaning that's the side I get launched from.
So I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that type of issue and if there has ever been any "study" and if there would be any rational reason for that to happen. I'm right side dominant ,so does that mean that I possibly push off from that side ? Or is it because the throttle is on the right side ? Just seems odd.
My surgeon actually initiated the thought process--while I was waiting for my surgery date to arrive , I had to race 2 more rounds to solidify my 2nd place in the series standings , so when I told my surgeon my plans , he said "sure, go ahead, just make sure you crash on your right side" . And that got me thinking.........

Yes, I'm ambidextrous.
Good times.

I think its true most people also feel most comfortable turning left (rear brake access or some other reason). I always figured I was just pushing harder when turning that way hence bigger crash.
Then again I've definitely high-sided turning right and still managed to land left....
femur,knee,arm...
Braking bones is bad enough, but the healing for me is slow
15 different broken bones, and all on right side except for a pinky finger on left hand
Having said that, I prefer left handed corners, strange.
Pit Row
Although there was one time after too many VBs....
Arunkfx-- i definitely prefer left handed turns as well...by a big margin. Wondering again if it has any correlation to being right handed dominant.
Interesting stuff. Will it be of any significance or help ? Probably not, but still interesting nonetheless, lol
I am ambidextrous, but definitely right hand dominate.
