XC’s have the same tranny as the SX, smaller bores add a sixth gear. XC-W have the different transmission, forks, triple clamps, lack a linkage, etc.
Incorrect. The XC has a different transmission than the SX.
He's correct and incorrect at the same time , if you go a few years back the xc was just an SX with an 18-inch wheel and a bigger gas tank and different suspension valving they did use the same Transmissions as the sx, they've now morphed into their own bike with their own gear ratios and ignition settings

I tried to ride a stock 2015 Husky FE350 once, and a stock 2016 TE300 another time on a vet style track that was/rough with smaller jumps. They were both steaming piles of shit on the track, after 3 laps I parked the both bikes and rode friends bikes for the rest of the day, then brought my FC 250 to the track every time since.

Well those springs should change everything. We needed a few no votes, this was starting to look like the Russians rigged it.

As his "dealer", I'll let him comment on why he needs the springs.......

Other than linkage, this is just like what they run in MX. If it was a white one like Haaker rides, then it's essentially the same thing. Call it an enduro bike and it's like you are a leper to strictly MX guys. In my book, if it's got 2 round rubber black tires and an engine, let's race.

The Motocross Action Magazine has even tested a few off roaders. It seems they'd rather go out of business rather than compromise their principles. Fact of the matter is there are way more off roaders sold than MX'ers and the bikes are almost the same. The pie is only so big, and getting smaller. Why can't we all just get along. Like at J-Day.

Even the name of this site follows that exclusionary format, and yet is closely tied to GNCC dna. This site has been extremely tolerant of so called "non-moto" and I'm glad for it. They go out of their way to cover GNCC and some Endurocross and it is appreciated. This is the most active site for DIRT BIKE RIDERS in the world as far as I know (maybe TT?), and the more inclusionary it can be is a great way to "grow" this sport. Thanks for what you do VItalMX.

Nope for me. After seeing Bobby Garrison(?) kick butt on his Husky WR300 at the big 2stroke race I thought I could make one work. Put SSS forks on it, exhaust, revalve, etc etc and it was still a turd on the MX track, brilliant in the woods though.

You need about 360cc to pull all that WR gearing on a prepped soft MX track.

The "Cross Country" Husky's would be the FX and TX models. The TE and FE would definitely be much less suited to track riding.

The gearing wasn’t the problem ,it was actually fine. The whole bike as a complete package felt way out of it’s element, which it was. It felt uninspiring, lethargic and clumsy.

Yes, this was in 2016 and 2015...before KTM expanded the Husky line up and offered cross-over dirt bikes. I had heard so much about the 300, but I had never really got a chance to ride one much as the were always sold out every season at the shop I worked at, before the snow melted every year. In '16 I made sure to claim one as a demo bike for me and my staff to ride for the season. I pdi'd the first one that came in and took it to the track for a day of riding just to try it, and break it in before taking it to the single track....First, I was shocked that it was not fast, no overrev....and the suspension was horrid, bottomed on the face of jumps, into corners, and was down right unrideable when leaning off the back fender and given'er down whooped out fast sections. The 350 I liked more....For what it was designed for(tight single track) it was incredible though, but I was shocked how single purpose the bike was. That day I learned that I could make my moto 250F work for me basically everywhere, but the 300 offroad bike was only good in the single track....for me anyways.
