Do '15-'19 yz 2t plastics and airbox bolt straight up to an '05-'14 yz?

Edited Date/Time 8/12/2019 8:39am
I'd like my next bike to be a yz250, and given my budget it will probably be between 2005 and 2014, one with the older styling. I've seen alot of people putting on the new plastics to their older yz's, and I would like to do the same. Just wondering whether there are any outliers between '05-'14 that this conversion wouldn't work for/would require mods? Thanks Smile

Also, theres so many options, OEM, Cycra, Race Tech with tank...very cool btw. Ufo, Yellow, white, blue, black and more that I'm sure I'm missing. Shoot for 06 and beyond for better suspension.

Front plate and fender changed in 15?. So, slight modification/ drilling may be required depending on year. Sorry I forget at this hour.

Need a new airbox for the side panels. Everything else will bolt on. Front number plate will be shorter and show triple clamp. Here’s my 2012 with updated plastics and airbox.

You can get real creative with it! Started with 2006 plastics, went Cycra (with old style airbox) and now Rtech Revo, with 2018 front plate and fender. Even have 2014 YZ450F swing arm.

The Polisport kit was a pretty good deal and not bad by any means to install. Double down on those square washers though. Going to need more with the new style plastics.

Polisport kit does NOT have the front fender drilled correctly. Just know that going in to it!

I was going to say, but you covered it, Hammer. OEM fender, 2015 and on, will not bolt right onto a 2014 and older.

The rest will though, including the fork guards. Been there and done all this.
Don't forget 02-04 and 05-07 fork guards are a different bolt pattern than 08-20.

229, your bike is righteous. How do you like that hydraulic clutch setup? Was it easy to install or a PITA?

My '06 with the R-tec kit. It has new air box sides you rivet in. Rest of the plastic is interchangeable, had to drill holes for front fender.
