Does anyone know what airboot twisted development is talking about the in the video? For 80 bucks seems like a stellar deal. I searched the Twisted Development and couldn’t find anything.
Fast forward the video to about 3min 50 seconds when Jaime starts talking about it.

I've heard from several people about running the '18 air boot. I'm also curious why they drilled holes in the airbox cover instead of running the one that comes with the '20 bikes??? I felt like Jamie wanted Ping to explain the differences between the Vortex and stock remapped ECU but they never really dove into in. Maybe someone else can chime in. Definitely an awesome build and makes me want try some of those things on my 350.

An air boot from an 18 350 or 250? Or are they the same?

One is longer, I know Carlino Joe has mentioned it before, I'm sure he will chime in.

I took it as they were selling the reflash on the stock ECU, that even that modified the stock one worked well?

Hey guys here’s a photo of the 2

Top is 2018 250/350 - long air passage

Bottom is 2019 250/350 - short

I’m running the 2018, it’s not a game changer mod like put this in and you have a new bike. But if you do all the little mods like screen less filter cage, holes in the air box, airboot, exhaust and add the remap or Vortex from Twisted. YES there is a major difference.

How about for the Husky?
Husky and KTM 250+350 from 2018 share the same airboot.

Husky and KTM 250+350 from 2019 share the same airboot.

So I’d assume the advantages would be the same for Husky on all the mods I wrote about above. I’ve never tried them on a Husky, just speaking theoretically.

With the 2018 air boot on a 2021 do you need to use a 2018 cage and filter?
Cage and filter are the same from 2016-2021.

I use a 2018+ 2 stroke filter cage with no screen.

Would a 2019 airboot from a 250 2stroke fit a 2021 350sxf? Got a VHM carbon intake for my 2stroke but don’t know if it’ll fit then

So you buy a 350 because 450's have too much power, then you spend all this time and money trying to make more power... You could just buy a 450 and work on throttle control, no modifications needed.

There is a level of power that lies between a stock 350 and a stock 450. It's also not just about changing the absolute amount of power but the character or delivery/response of the power to suit the rider's preferences or track conditions.

Have you ridden a 350? I prefer that over the 450 by far. I like riding up in the rpms, and felt like I couldn't do that on a 450. the 450 wasn't as much fun.
Guys mod their 450s too, ya' know.

That's not for the breather hose. It's for the Intake air temp sensor. KTM's just dump the breather hose right out the bottom. No complicated mess like Hondas. If you look close on the upper one it has the mount for the sensor closer to the filter area instead of on the intake tube.

Sorry to revive an old thread but…

I have a ‘22 sxf350 and I wondered if this was still a worthwhile mod for my bike as I don’t have them side by side to compare. Loving this 350!

I've done it to my '23 GasGas.  I believe it was around $65 for the boot from a 2018 350SXF.

The 2018 boot has that longer velocity stack molded into the rubber.  It adds some low end torque.   Like others, I run the two-stroke filter cage (no wire-mesh backfire screen) and I cut the flap off of the inside of the airbox.   Also, I replaced the standard muffler with one from a '23 MC250F because it doesn't have that icecream cone baffle.

When my bike was stock I had to dab the clutch in some corners with stock gear ratios. (I am 160lbs)
With four simple mods (airbox lid, air-boot, filter cage, muffler) the MC350F rarely needs the clutch to accelerate out of a corner in map 2.

I've done the exact same thing on my 22 Ex250f and it makes a noticeable difference.  Adjusting the TPS voltage helps too.

Thanks. What do you mean here:

“and I cut the flap off of the inside of the airbox.”

I don’t follow. I’ve already got the mesh-less filter cage, a full FMF, the stock ecu is remapped and the bike runs really well coming from a 450. But could always use a little more torque.

I think he's referring to the flat piece of plastic in the finger-grab hole on the airbox cover on the GasGas bikes.   Removing that is an easy way to get more air in the air box.

Like FGR01 described...

The back of the airbox cover there's a rib...  I trimmed the mud-flap down, but left a bit of the rib to maintain some structure on that panel.  (See photo below).

Lots of guys are drilling holes in the cover and there's a vented airbox cover available too.

Got ya!

I’ve got a ‘22 Ktm 350 with both vented and non vented covers. That’s a good idea trimming the seam to let some more air in on the non vented.

My bike has a full FMF, the stock ecu has been remapped to take out some engine braking and I’m not sure what else was done on the tune. I put in a mesh-less filter cage and obviously the vented cover. Bike runs REALLY good and I enjoy it over my ‘21 450. On our smaller tighter tracks here in Missouri it gets around well with the 14/52 but a little more bark would make the bike perfect. I’ve become a firm believer in velocity stack designs since I started using them on my Stand up jet skis (picked up a solid 1mph and a little more out of the hole).

I ordered a used one on eBay for $28 so I’ll report back with results.
