Set up is super important, I never said it wasn’t. Each rider sets up the bike for themselves, how can they not be the one to blame if they’re having set up issues?

If a rider is having a hard time setting up his bike, is that a bike issue or a rider issue? To me, a bike issue is a flat tire, weak or no brakes, lack of HP, burnt up clutch, etc. A bike that I set up incorrectly is not a “bike issue”, that’s a Me issue. That’s something I did and need to fix.
Some riders are good at conveying to the mechanic what they feel and want. Others rely on the team to see what's going on and make educated adjustments. Easy to see how a lack of ability for either party could lead to struggles. You know that.

People forget that Bob Hannah raced a stock bike (1978 YZ250E) numerous times in 1978, and won races.

Stock, gentlemen.

The Tomac enigma was closed a few days ago when a spaniard guy pointed out that ET3 was not comfortable because he is using the hydro clutch inested of the cable clutch from the 2018 model, that enables him to get a better "feel" for the bike, since his riding style is so aggressive. Gotta love vital Grinning

Anderson is still on 2018 top end on 2019.5 bike. Same with Cairoli. Herlings run different swing arm and frame. Troylee had issues dialing in 2019 sxf, same with bagget.

Put Tomac on his 2018 sx bike, and he would have been the sx champ 2019.
Tomac was on a 2018 in 2018...not the "CHAMP" He rode the 2019 at the MEC and said he loved it, it is what it is.
