I want riding today and one of my riding buddies (an African American girl who just recently got her bike stolen) shows up today like this. She picked this cr up for 900 bucks on Craigslist. Granted it broke first lap but you have to commend her for her love of the sport.
The Shop
Is that South Fork?
So sorry to hear about the other bike, I hope some shop out there helps this youngster out a bit.
A Fit was never used better.
To buy a beater and go directly to the track, jesus, did it still have the craiglist fuel in it?
Going over a bike pays dividends when the piston will turn 90 degrees in bore and you are headed for a single to table, not to mention tight bar clamps.
That is definitely dedication
Pit Row
I just remember thinking after the first moto swallowing up the wheels on my 450 that SURELY they would cancel the second motos. No such luck... I was washing sand out of that bike for weeks!!!
That's awesome!
Washing them after a race, into the trailer, back on the track without a bit of maintenance.
Front wheel bearing letting go and wedge the rotor in the caliper, riding with missing spokes.
A seller trimming the frayed cable strands off the throttle cable to get a few twists out just to get it sold.
Keeping a helmet for years while the sweat corroded the strap rivet. Crashed hard and his helmet flew off.
One of the most amazing was a crf450 bought off the net,guy raced it for a few months till it got hard to start. I told him it was probably valves but found them to be set right. Tore it down and found it was over bored 2mm with a 1mm over piston with
2 mm over rings. Lol.
A girl raced 25 and 30 plus back in the 80s,there was no class for her local then. Vickie was her first name, drove a chevy elcamino.
Always Yamaha 125 and 250 in a enclosed trailer, she did all her maintenance, watched her do topends at the track. She was a cool chick.
You have to tell people sometimes to save them from their self.
